Ninja edit: The woman was wrong, they are very sociable individuals, they don't cause havoc where ever they go, they aren't thieves with zero ability to conform to the standards of the general public and they are very lovely people. The girls don't dress like wannabe Katie Price slags, either.
It's absurd to think they dodge tax either, don't be silly.![]()
Being racist without inciting racial hatred is like being a wife beater without beating your wife. You know it's wrong, so you stop yourself from doing it. But you probably have a mental issue which means that it isn't your fault. Of course people shouldn't be punished for what is beyond their control. That would be thought crime.
The funny thing is, we don't need people telling us that pikies are scum and criminals, that's like saying "water is wet".
Perhaps. But we're NOT dealing with a race here. It's a way of life... I'm sure some travelling folk are lovely. Perhaps the ones that actually do some travelling, rather than the majority which seem to find somewhere illegal to set up camp, cause havoc for weeks or months, make a mess, indulge in criminal activities then MAYBE move off when they've leeched the life out of the area.
It's not a race. Therefore how can it be inciting racial hatred? It's voicing of an opinion if you ask me.
Evidently UK Law disagrees.
And it's a farce. In the US it would be utterly unthinkable to get in trouble for a comment like that.
Freedom of speech does not include freedom to spread racial hatred.
It is no diferrent from calling kids hanging around council estates Chavs or Hoodies...
Evidently UK Law disagrees.
Reload this Page Better not insult the traveller folks
Evidently UK Law disagrees.
No it doesn't:
A CPS ruling from 2003 against the Firle Bonfire Society accepts that the terminology ***** is not a racist term in itself and that their was insufficient evidence to assume the term is limited to a recognised racial group.....it could possibly be seen a discrimination, but not racism or incitement to racial hatred.

Again, Irish Travellers are not a race and are not recognised as such.....they are not to be confused with Romani Gypsies.
