*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Not sure who's bright idea it was to put those flashing msg's on screen when a player goes near an objective.

They need to be dragged to our (Republic) speeder point and be constantly farmed for valor.

Maybe give us some player turrets to defend our base with but we just get red writing.

Quick Question: Security Keys

OK, I know there is an Android app for this, free to download and in all honesty does the job well.
A friend of mine was asking about the "physical securty keys" and asked if I had any idea how physically big thhey were.
I don't - I have a key on my phone.

So to the question.
Has anyone here purchased a physical security key?
If so....how big is it...it's dimensions?

If anyone who hasn't purchased one knows the answer I'll accept that too :)

Thanks.

Pretty sure the SWTOR keys are by Vasco, same company Blizzard use. The image of the key looks exactly the same as the Warcraft ones other than different decals. Size wise, looking at 5cm length, 2cm width, 1cm depth.

Such a good post and one that makes me well up a little bit, and extremely ******* angry.

Forgetting about the bugs, how could you read that post and not want to play that game? And you've only scratched the surface. The PvP massacres that happened at the bottom of the borgyle cave on Rori, which seemed to be the only place that dropped the crafting skill tapes and the fights to get them. The questline to even get the schematic for the RIS armour, and the effort it took to get the special pieces to make it (bloody Giant Dune Kimo's on Lok, if I ever see another one of them it'll be too soon! :D) so when you saw someone with it on, you knew that someone had taken a lot of time and care to make that one suit of armour.
Trying to get the babies from them half monkey-half spider things I've forgotten the name of on Endor, and the trek from Dantooine starport to the Crystal Caves there before vehicles. Took about 20 mins running in a grp with a ranger for the speed buff! And the joy I had when I got my first vehicle. An x-34 landspeeder, just like Luke had. I just went driving for ages in it, cruising round like a boss (and going bloody slowly up hills).

I could talk about the game for hours.

You see, you've just gone and mentioned a bunch of other things that I hadn't covered and we've still not even got a quarter into what SWG was all about. There was so much to do everyday, and it was almost always different.

I'm enjoying SWTOR, I just wish the content was player-generated rather than this whole "spoon-fed" crap that we get nowadays. I wonder if there are any MMO companies that are bold enough to try and pull it off in today's market?

Other than CCP and Blizzard, I doubt it. The way the MMO market currently is I doubt we'll see any major innovation of any kind for years unless it comes from those two companies.

Thankyou - most appreciated for your time.

Slightly O/T:

For those of you who have been saying they miss pre-CU SWG, this is a really interesting site about a Pre-CU SWG Emulator. Totally above board as you need the original disk etc. and as the game is now no more I should imagine even more above board. Lots of issues and nowhere near complete but I suppose it really is a test of how much you want the original experience over the spoon fed MMOs of recent times!

(I cant imagine there is an issue with posting a link to an emulator, especially of a defunct game, but if there is feel free to destroy mod!)

Western developers will always play it safe, the only innovative MMO's imo will come from our eastern friends . There are only two MMo's that interest me currently unreleased - Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul - with the latter showing true next gen graphics with all the bizarre crazy over the top martial arts you could want :p

Slightly O/T: Stuff...

Yep already know about it and follow it regularly, but not sure if it'll ever get off the ground. I don't think the mods approve of it being posted up here though, although that might be different now that the game is no longer alive...

Yeah, I've had SWGEMU on my machine for a couple of years now, and it's good, but as they're volunteer only, work is slow going and there is still quite a lot missing from it.

It's great to fire up to remissness about though :)

a) there is never a reimbursement for such a thing during an mmo release
b) compared to most mmo releases, TOR has been down very little. Too little IMO because they have been very slow to fix stuff.

Actually I agree, the problem is there downtimes are at annoyingly bad times during the days.
