Weird 90's Timeless Video

Kurt Cobain renounced Christianity.....like many confused unstable kids who do not feel they 'fit'.....he assumed the habits and lifestyles of those around him....a trait that probably led to his suicide.

Did he really? Source please? (Apart from the general wiki statement you found. ;))
Kurt often mocked "Christians", though not Christianity.

II'm not saying Nirvana were rubbish, far from it, only that they are overrated, largely I think due to Cobains death....I prefered Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, but like all these things it is entirely subjective.

In the same way as i think Heath Ledger's take on the Joker is hugely overrated solely due to his death stright after. It's good, but nowhere near as amazing as some people make it out to be

Lyrically, Nirvana were genious IMO

However, the "unstable" nature of Cobain and almost a desire to not be accepted meant a lot of songs were musically lacking at times, particularly on In Utero - specifically geared to put off fans for some reason. Though this did produce some good satirical songs - Very Ape, In Bloom, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter etc

This is my favourite timeframe for music. I was born 10 years too late :(

Soundgarden, Pixies, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses, Alice In Chains, Temple of The Dog, etc etc

You don't need a source....anyone who was 'into' the scene and knows anything about Kurt Cobain at all will tell you that was a 'christian' during the brief time he spend living with a Born-Again family whilst he was a teenager....but denounced that faith shortly after leaving.

He is on record as being anti-Christianity on numerous occasions, dabbling in satanic ritual and all kinds of non-christian activities as well as other religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism...partly due to his drug use and partly becasue he was one of those people in life who while searching for their own identity, assume the identity of those around him.

I suggest you read some of the biographies on Kurt Cobain and not the nonsense you google on the interweb.

The fact is the Kurt Cobain was only a 'saved' Christian for a short time, and the very nature of his death illustrates just how seriously he held those beliefs after his teenage years.

I totally agree with you, Ledger was good, but not Oscar material.

Terrible in every way. The only good thing to come out of Nirvana was Dave Grohl.

I could probably shout into a mic pretty well. I don't see the talent.

Because Dave Grohl doesn't do this.

I had a dream once where I was playing guitar with Dave Grohl at a festival being held on a local playing field........during the gig the festival was invaded with zombies and Dave and I were bashing in Zombie heads with our stratocasters.....

crazy ass dreams after watching Dawn of the Dead and listing to Foo Fighters....

One great song doesn't make a great band....hugely overrated in my opinion.

Nevermind was never an album that Kurt wanted to make. He stated many times that it was not the sound he was after. Of course, it made them famous, but Butch Vig made it far too commercial for Kurts liking.

The real Nirvana can be heard by listening to Bleach and In Utero. Kurt always said that In Utero was the album he had been waiting to be able to make all his life. Damn shame it was his last.

The band, in my opinion, were certainly not overrated. They defined a lot of music that we still hear today.

I am one of the lucky few that saw them live, myself at Reading Festival in 1992. Never been back since as I do not see the point. :)

No, he does. But he does also sing pretty well. Kurt just shouts and screams constantly so we can't hear what he is actually singing about. Wierd Al actually has a good point.

That's absolute rubbish. They had a habit of switching from almost spoken-word verses to energetic chorus and yes with shouting and whatnot, but saying Kurt only shouted and screamed? nonsense!
