BenQ XL2420T Now available

Yeh I have the black equalizer at 8, perefect for me, and I wouldnt use any of the fps or game modes in windows... they look like crap. Only after configuring they look real good in games, but you should really use standard mode in windows

Has anyone tried the first Deus Ex or CS 1.6 converted to 3D using this monitor with Nvidia's 3D technology? I am curious to know what that is like.

In a few days i will, hopefully tonight if glasses arrive otherwise over the weekend and will try many other games.

Just saw another website review this, gave it 10/10 heh and now i've used it more i am very impressed.I would buy 3 if my desk could take them all.:p (anyone know if an IKEA Galant desk can manage?)

Here is a quick side by side with the 2410T on the left and 2420T on the right, will take some pics when i have some proper lighting, but the screens are both incredibly bright.

Yeh thats way off, need to collaborate and play around with the standard settings some more for windows.

You have to also use your Graphics carfds colour control to get the best picture dont forget

Yeh I thought so, fps mode has over saturated greens reds and blue its quite strange.
But I have got it all collaberated with the monitor and my GPU settings for fps mode and games liek BF3 that look amazing for a TN.

for Other games and windows usage I use a different profile in standard mode and looks very good indeed.

Yeh, there are actually a good range of pre-set profiles on the monitor, so i don't think im going to have to create my own, while i the gaming modes are a little OTT, the other modes seem just right.

Go to picture mode on the menu you will see a lot of different ones....i've calibrated the standard mode for gaming and windows though i am going to do a seperate one for each soon.Have you calibrated yours now James? colours shouldn't be far off your previous IPS when done proper.

What other modes? How do you get to them? All i can see is gamer1/2/3 :S

I had the same problem :) or so I thought, turned out I was being completely stupid and all you have to do is scroll up above the gamer modes and all the modes are there.

The gamer modes arent modes of their own, they are there so that you can take any of the other modes like standard/fps ect. and change them to what you want and them save them to either gamer 1/gamer 2/ gamer 3 so that you can switch inbetween them with ease on the fly with the little controller thing that attaches to the base of the monitor.

Lol can't believe I never noticed... :D

Just did a dead pixel check on mine and everythings good so pleased overall. The performance of the panel is really nice compared to my dell UH2311 IPS screen which is next to it now. Some big differences in games which make spotting people in BF3 vastly easier and the input lag and ghosting are also vast improvements. Can't wait to try 3D out when I get one of the kits early next month.

I really want to get this monitor, but i fear i'm going to have to pay returns postage if it still suffers from the inverse color ghosting as a result of aggressive overdrive under their AMA technology.. like the original. I've asked a few times now, but someone must be able to give me some information on it.

Are you not the person who has just riducled me in another thread telling me that I was talking nonsense about it being a good gaming/crt like monitor this monitor sucks with AMA on and it trails and ghosts?

I knew you just read that on the internet about the old model (I saw it myself) and you dont even have this model..... You shouldnt come in to a thread and tell someone they are wrong or talking nonsense and tell them something that is exactly that.

As I just exaplained in the other thread;

The AMA on this model increases the smoothness of the moving image.

Without AMA on if you move something like text quick across the screen and look closely you can see the individual frames and the so the text will double up if you know what I mean liek the actual text is trailing.

With AMA on it eliminated the trailing frame behind the text with the tiniest bit of ghosting (not even half a mm) and makes it appear even more than 120hz and more smooth like a CRT.

You can only see or notice this with fast moving text, well unless you take a picture and this is the whole point you cant see any anything atall apart from a sharp detailed fast moving image, like a CRT.
But with an actual image liek an FPS game and AMA on it is just like a CRT.... the image is extremely sharp and detailed in fast motion with 0 trailing or ghosting.

Now please, dont look at something on the internet about an old model of a product then go and tell someone who owns the newer different model that it has a problem the old one has and they are talking complete nonsense.

I noticed it being a lot easier to see people in BF3 too, which is perfect as thats all I really play :D.

Well i took the plunge and bought one of these monitors, coming from a 20" samsung 2032bw it is a huge difference, everything is brighter and clearer to see, and at 120hz it is sooooo smooth compared to my samsung.

Still cant decide on the best setup though for gaming and desktop, just left it on standard for now and dropped brightness before i go blind :)

My only problem (if you would call it a problem) is i push the monitor to its lowest height on the stand, as its best position for my seating arrangements, but this morning when i came to boot up, the monitor had moved itself up lol, would have been nice to lock it in place so it could'nt move by itself.

Oh special mention to the remote, superb idea, saves messing around on the monitor itself, and its magnetic!!

But an amazing monitor, just need to save for the 3D kit now, should have been bundled imo.

Oh yes... this monitor is so bright it can be like staring at a thermonuclear explosion.

Standard it seems is best for the desktop. I find it's necessary to also use the graphics card control panel to calm down the brightness from there.

I'm not surprised you still can't decide on the settings. I got mine 3 days ago, and I still can't decide.

Reckon I'll be at it for at least a week before I'm happy, and it's comfortable when viewing the desktop and web pages, and I have my presets for games.

So, PCM2, they finally gave you one yet or you gotta wait even longer?

'Monday'. They've only got one available in the labs and they have had to do some internal testing before releasing it for review. They basically like to make sure that anybody reviewing it is doing it properly and aren't making things up. At least that's my take on what they're doing. :p

PCM2, just a question:

There's been a lot of criticism on the XL2410T having the dark ghost trail with AMA enabled. This is usually tested using PixPerAn.

Now, If i move a black object on a white background on my monitor, and look REALLY REALLY close and follow the object and possible location of the trail with my eyes, I do see that the XL2420T has this too. (I never had a XL2410T, so I don't know how it compares to that) However, it is so difficult to see, that I actually don't see or notice it at all anywhere else... I actually cannot spot it on anything but a very white background.

So my question is, is the PixPerAn test still a fair test if you're using (I'm guessing) a DSLR with a very quick shutter? If there's a ghosting trail, won't it be much more visible on a 60Hz screen than on a 120Hz screen? For the camera you're using for the test, it probably won't be much different, but it is for your eyes I reckon?

In any case, I am very very satisfied with my XL2420T. There's no way I made a wrong choice buying it, especially considering I hate glossy screens and thus the Samsungs were no option for me.
