Why is it irrational to beleive in a higher power? Do you think that anything at all that you don't believe in must be irrational?

Accepting it is the first step towards recovery.

Okay I'll bite. It's irrational to believe in something for which there is no evidence. And no, a book written by human beings does not count as evidence.
But you have no evidence to the contrary, does that then make you equally irrational.
Does the OP exist? Where is my mind?

Nope. The burden of proof is on the people who assert a thing does exist.
I know the tooth fairy doesn't exist, I don't have proof about that either..

What? Who decided that? Is it a man made law or something?
God can't be proved to exist in whatever form or disproved, therefore will only ever be subject to philosophical debate.
You claim there is no god yet you can't provide evidence but thats you done. I believe there is a god but I have to provide evidence otherwise I'm just wrong?![]()
I know that magic carpets and genies dont exist, but unfortunately I cannot prove it.
But even if you examined every carpet in the world, that still wouldnt be proof that magic carpets dont exist because any magic carpets would simply be hiding their magic from you.
Therefore magic carpets are real, and you are illogical and wrong if you disagree because you cant prove that they arent real.
But there is no higher power, in my opinion only. This statement is correct.
You asked why it's irrational to believe in a higher power, and I answered your question. To reiterate, whether a higher power exists or not, there's not a single shred of evidence to suppose that it does. Believing in a thing when there's no reason to is irrational.

The (man written) book told them to... on a more serious note Religion is built on faith and not facts so the argument gets approached completely different by both sides and so always ends up the same cycle with fact vs faith.
