Im ok with it, but then again im not poor.
They're inflated. And the reason they're inflated is because the 6 series AMD cards could not compete with the high end Nvidia ones.
As such Nvidia saw no reason to drop their prices for any reason, so held fast.
Then AMD knew they had a card that could beat the Nvidia ones. So they simply priced it like for like with the same Nvidia part that was slower (the 3gb 580).
Give it a couple of months
Now that AMD have something to compete with Nvidia are going to have to (begrudgingly no doubt) reduce their prices.
This will then make the AMD cards look expensive, so they will then have to follow suit.
That's rubbish as a 6970 beats a 570 in most benchmarks and costs less.

Price/Performance wise though buying a 6970 was much wiser than buying a 570 or 580, it loses out to the 580 around 5-10fps but costs around £200 less in some cases. I think nvidia are the ones making the prices so high, no matter how low AMD drop the price on their cards people still seem to buy nvidia anyway because of their "exceptional drivers, physx, 3d and cuda for folding.
No it doesn't. The 570 is the more powerful GPU, and pulls ahead with higher AA/AF. Not to mention, tessellation. 6970 just has more VRAM.

Had my GTX460 1GB for 18 months. Nothing at the moment even tempts me in the slightest. I'll be keeping it untill there is a 2GB+ card that is around twice as fast for about £130-170.![]()

but the 6970 is their fastest 6000 series gpu
compare it to nvidias fastest gpu, the 580 gpu, and then you will understand![]()
