Heyas, I just bought another 8Gb kit for my P8P67-M Pro - the first two slots no matter whether I put my current working RAM in there, or the new shiz, don't want to boot with it in there at all, even with just 2 sticks in the first bank, has anyone experienced this before? Would updating the BIOS would do any good? I've tried reseating the RAM in old stuff in first bank, new stuff in second and visa versa.

Specs:

P8P67-M Pro
i5-2500K
Corsair Vengance 4x4Gb 1600MHz C9 (although 2 slots don't work, thus the point of this thread ;))
Corsair CX430 PSU
Sapphire 5850
Vertex 2 60Gb
500Gb Seagate

Any help much appreciated, as I really want to get this 16Gb up so I can do some lab work at home.

Possibly an overtightened CPU cooler which can warp the motherboard/CPU socket.

It's very easy to overtighten the cooling block/pump on the H60 especially if it has the screws which can be tightened with a screwdriver rather then just by hand.

Try loosening the 4 screws a turn each.

It's also possible you have damaged pins in the CPU socket.

Interesting, but surely if I have damaged the CPU socket, I'd have system instability ? But it's seemingly rock solid...

I'll try loosening it slightly and see if that solves it.

Not damaged, just slightly warped.

It may have affected the connection between the memory controller on the CPU and the RAM slots.

Which slots you using for dual channel/2 sticks? As its not the first two slots its a staggered install,so coming from CPU socket to front of case its miss first slot, install a stick miss a slot, install a stick

Sometimes manuals can be outdated normally there's a loose page with updated ram configs, you have four sticks anyway so all slots would be used, did you test all sticks one by one in a known working ram slot? Do this to make sure each stick is working

Surveyor, just a quick Q, I noticed you mentioned this in previous posts with simular issues, do you have any evidence to back this up, previous posts\full threads regarding it? Just trying to dig into this a bit further. As if it's a known issue, I just want to know the final outcome of previous cases.

Thanks :)

Would it be perma cocked? Or would losening fix it?

It should be a permanent fix if it's your problem.

One in here reported it worked:

Vanishing Memory See post #8

Most times people don't report back if they've fixed their problem.

Worked fine. This should be stickied as it's one of those really odd issues which is kinda stupid as to why it doesn't work but such a simple fix sorts it.
