New Sony NGP/Vita Screen shots, videos, and news (embargo now lifted)

Dont forget its valentines day so good luck with that also. better buy the missus a great gift so she wont notice u bought yourself a vita :D

TBH the Vita looks so much like a PSP she'll not notice. Honestly, she cares nothing about games consoles, all she complains about is cost and moans sometimes if i'm playing a game and Eastenders is on..

lol

Waiting for a play in my local game. The manager has put a passcode on it and not told the staff what it is.

Same here, which is the main reason I'm getting the vita. Finally I will be able to game without the moaning because she is missing some crappy program on tv.

We'll I gave up at the first Game store. The guy there was very apologetic but apparently the Manager didn't want anyone else demoing the unit so set the passcode and wouldn't tell anyone else what it was. The fact that I wanted to try it and couldn't because he wasn't there was not lost on the guy trying to help me.

The woman there even said that he had said not to let anyone play on it at all! They both did also say that there has been a marked interest since they got the unit on Friday and that pre orders were up.

Anyway I was heading in to town proper so I had about 15 minutes on the one in there instead. They did not have and are not getting a proper booth with the devices tethered in that store, but he said they are expecting a couple of guys to come in to demo it to customers. The unit they had in there was the one that they sent to the Manager of every store. All the games on it were apparently the full versions.

Anyway, the Vita is light, doesn't look anywhere near as big as you think it will, the analogue sticks have a very grippy surface unlike the DS3 where my thumbs slide off constantly. Screen looks great, would have looked better had they not used a screen protector that is applied in SEGMENTS across the damned screen.

UI was very fast and smooth and I played a minute or so of Uncharted but that was just picking up where someone else had left it so I had no idea what I was doing or how to do it (been a while since I played Uncharted). Game looked great though, better than the screens are showing IMO.

Also played the first race on Wipeout. The controls were set by default to have speed on the right trigger which took me a moment to work out and as a result I was well behind by the time I realised and got comfy. Still somehow managed to win the race though. It was only on the slowest speed obviously and the track was much wider than HD or Fury but I didn't get the chance to fire any weapons at anyone and didn't need the speed brake (which was mapped elsewhere I think). The game looks slick, very slick. Really looking forward to playing it properly!

So yeah, go have a play!

I went to Toys R Us to try and pre order the 3G for that £260 that they have it for on the website but that store didn't even have a display set up and had no idea what the final price would be.

Literally they had those little paper tokens to take to the checkout and an A4 sized poster about it with some Vita details. All of which was in the 3ft wide PSP rack in the same aisle as the 360 stuff. The woman on the till also called it the "PS Vista, or whatever it's called".

Noticed some 32Gb cards on bay for £65 posted, tempted to get 1, but dunno if they'll be any fakes out already?

It's possible but I have no idea really. I know there is a Canadian site that you can get them for £69 posted from that are legit, I'll try and find the link. What's stopping me is that it'll still take a week to arrive and I don't want to buy another card just to use it for a week.

Might go for one of the new Amazon bundle now, Vita + 8gb card and a game (no Uncharted though) for £234.

Just seen that thanks for the heads up. the link is below for anyone else. Shame it's only Ubi games and VT4 since the only two I want I have pre ordered for £6 each lol.

Also Shuhei Yoshida retweeted someone saying that there will be discounts for digital sales. Apparently details are coming very soon.

I canceled my order and went for the Amazon bundle as well. What is Lumines like?

anyone else ordering unit 13? It looks really good.

lumines is a puzzle game with a great soundtrack. Check out some Youtube vids :)

And I'm not sure about Unit 13 but only because I'm crap at shooters. All of the different online functionality looks like it should be fun with challenges and time trials and stuff.

Famitsu has given mavity daze 38/40!

Cant wait for that one! Any idea in uk release date for it?

AFAIK mavity Rush (no idea why they renamed for the west) is a "launch window" title. Everything else in the window is within a month but no date has been given for that yet. Should be a demo fairly early though hopefully.

And on the pre orders, I compiled a list

Amazon.co.uk
Any Vita + free 8gb card + any Ubi game or VT4 for £15.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature....rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=279914507&pf_rd_i=B0054Q82WI

So 3G is £285+ shipping and WiFi is £235 + shipping. No pre order pack here.

Play.com
Several bundles. Some with 3G some with Wifi. All with 8gb Card.

WiFi + Uncharted/Fifa + 8GB = £275
WiFi + Rayman/Lumines/Dungeon Hunter: Alliance/Army Corps of Hell/F1 + 8GB = £265

3G + Uncharted/Fifa + 8GB = £325

All include the pre order pack

http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/-/4660/3927/3-/Refine.html

Game & Gamestation

Only WiFi deals, all inc a 4GB card.

WiFi + Uncharted/Fifa + 4GB = £270
WiFi + Wipeout/Everybodys Golf/Modnation/Katamari + 4gb = £260

All include the Pre order Pack
Game link
Gamestation Link

Toys R Us

No bundles.

WiFi = £215
3G = £260

Some have also managed to pre order in store at the same price. Mine had almost no idea what a Vita was and there was no price on the system apparently so I gave up.

Also included pre order pack.

Tesco Entertainment

No deals but 8% cashback if you use Quidco.

Means the Wifi works out to £202.40
3G is £248.40

Also includes pre order pack.

EDIT:

If you have already ordered with Amazon there is no need to cancel.

We have recently added a PlayStation Vita bundle offer in which you can get an 8GB memory card for free and a selected game for £15.

As you have pre-ordered already, rest assured that you will not miss out.

We will send promotional codes and redemption instructions to you by Tuesday, February 7. This will enable you to take advantage of the same offer without cancelling your PlayStation Vita console pre-order.

I’m trying to get some overtime at work… : - ) if I trade up my old PSP which if I get a vita will never be used again so no point in keeping it and put this towards it, I know I can muster up around £60 out of my own pocket I think I can afford one fairly soon after launch..

I only want uncharted and Wipeout 2048 to begin with, I just hope after buying one it suddenly over the next few years just fades away and hardly any support is there as its considered a failure…

Keep me entertained whilst the missus watches crude on telly lol Hope I don’t suffer with hand cramp like I did with the PSP, I spent hours on wipeout for my PSP however my hands did suffer after a while…

I do hope you meant "after buying one it DOESN'T suddenly fade away" lol.

Your best bet might be that amazon deal at the moment. You don't actually need to buy a game to get the memory card for free. So for £220 you get the WiFi and an 8gb card to get you going.

Your best bet RE cramp is to go and try one at your local Game. I was fine and I have quite large hands.

For anyone wanting to go to the London Access event from the 17th-23rd, the location has finally been decided as 80 Oxford Street.

You can just turn up and play, no fees, no booking. The only day that you cant is the first one (17th) which is invite only. You can enter to win an invite on the facebook page.
