Just wondering if there are any songs that are popular but you cannot abide and don't understand why people like them?

You may not say you don't like them in public as it might be controversial, but in this thread you can safely say you hate Paranoid Android, War Pigs, Everybody Hurts etc!

Heres mine, don't think its that controversial though perhaps you people will have more interesting choices,


Why? Annoying singing voice, bad lyrics, most annoying chorus I've heard for a long time.

I watched a documentary of KP and she seems very modest, funny and talented. I always dismissed her music before, but she's not an idiot.

Personally, I don't like Coldplay or any rock / pop song that creates a song out of a single 4 bar melody looped. It's so cheap.

I can't remember the exact song names, but I think Clocks and Speed of Sound (is that right?) are practically the same song. It's virtually the same piano loops, the same chord progression.... everything. It just baffles me.

Also, I cannot understand bands such as Kaiser Chiefs or Franz Ferdinand, it's just such unfathomably cheap music. Barebones music, some of the worst non-sensicle lyrics I have ever heard and terrible singing. Take me out, Michael, Matinee, 'every day I love you less and less' could not be more offensive to my ears, it's odd how music can provoke such a negative reaction!

War Pigs? really? it's not their best, but it's hardly comparable to anything as bad as the UK Top 40.

Can't stand any sort of dancy stuff, cascarda (I think thats how you spell it) or that Rebecca Black lass.

I can appreciate a good artist, such as Lady Gaga, but you won't find it on my iPod, but then, I am into Punk and Metal so you'll probably not find much popular music on my iPod with the exception of The Beatles

I like coldplay, not a huge fan but I'll try to explain why I like them.

Their music sounds massive and its like church music, it sounds huge like a church organ. I really like that huge sound thing they have going, its pretty rare for a band to sound so WIDE in their playing. It might partly be down to over production but I think its also down to how they play their instruments.

I feel weird saying this, but their music sounds almost religious to me. It also sounds imperious and somewhat like ceromonial war music, to me anyway.

I get the same feeling from the band Elbow.
