Autocar have done a brief test of both with predictable results, but I would still expect the BMW to come out better when you need a practical performance "saloon".

I saw this.

What a stupid comparison. Who would have thought that a 2 door all out, 1700kg, 4wd super car, which can beat Ferraris/Lamborghinis/Porsches around the Nurburgring would win against a ~2 tonne 4 door saloon

EDIT: Beaten

You mean a 4wd supercar is faster than an M5?

Whoa!

Yeah I know, don't really call the GTR a supercar, but it wasn't me that did the article it was the Daily Star of Motoring, Autocar :)

But if you are looking for a £74k car, then 2 or 4 doors is your choice :)

Like I said, the BMW would get the 4 door vote everytime.

Posted more for giggles at autocar than anything else practical.

Why would anyone be deciding between the two cars? They might has well have compared a Massey Ferguson to an Ariel Atom.

Stupid video, just an excuse to get to drive them both on the same day I am sure :D

Saw a new M5 on the road today. Looked fantastic. The brakes on it are colossal!

Colleague at work is looking to change his 3 year old GTR something as good for similar money. After looking at lots of options we came to the conclusion nothing could touch it.

He's going to chop it in for... a newer GTR.

Interior quality is probably similar between both too :p I assume the M5 interior is the same as any well specced F10, in which case, yeah it's similar :p

OH NO HE DIDN'T!
