Im contemplating getting an xbox 360, the 4gb version seems to be 129£ at some places.

One of those places i have a £50 voucher for.

Is the best way to expand the xbox 4gb to use a flash drive?
Is the console just a stereo sound device?
Im guessing the kinect will work fine if bought later.

Pc games are getting more and more annoying to me and i dont play much.

Not really considering a ps3, i dont like the controllers at all.

Flash drives work well but limited to 16gb each, can have 2 in at any one time.
Console does 5.1.
Kinect will work fine yes.

I'd only get the 4gb if I already had an older Xbox and 120gb hard-drive to re-use in it.
You need a good amount of storage for best experience.

Im completly unfamiliar with the last gen of consoles, what do you need all that space for?

Was only looking at the 4gb one as its cheap where i have the voucher

You want the extra space so that you can install games and DLC to the HDD. Games load faster from HDD, but you could just use a decent size USB memory card, however the more games you want to install, the more space you'll need. Most games need around 7GB(ish), but can be lower.

If I was buying a new 360, I'd get the 250GB personally.

Take Battlefield 3 as an example; it requires you to download a 1.5GB update to be able to play online.

You can also install games to the hard drive (disc still required to play) to increase load up times of both the game and whilst in-game (textures etc), and it also means the disc drive doesn't spin whilst playing. Every game will be 3GB+, and all-in-all I think my BF3 installation is about 12GB.

Im slightly confused, last console i had was xbox (not 360) and didnt need a hdd at all to play.

Do these games NEED the hdd to play or is it just better?

The 250 version is significantly more expensive.

Also, what is dlc?

You dont need to install games to play them but it makes the xbox whisper quiet and saves wear and tear on the dvd drive and speeds up loading.

DLC is down load content, ie extra game content you can buy on xbox live such as extra levels/campaigns/maps etc.

Ive just seen that xbox live isnt free, so i dont think id be using that anyway, that was a bit of a shock tbh, can see why ps3 is more expensive now!

If it wasnt for the kinect and controller i think id be looking at the ps3!

If you can only afford one with £50 off then just buy the 4GB and be done with it. If you're quibbling over the £35-£45 difference between the 4GB and the 250GB then I assume you won't be buying many new games. Also to miss out on Xbox Live just because it has a yearly subscription is silly, it offers many features not just online play.

I think the question everyone is missing is "how much gaming do you do".

If the answer to this is an hour a week go for it.

If you currently have a load of mates playing xbox already then 250GB would be much better in the long run along with a live sub.

Judging by the posts you have made I would go with the 4GB simply for the "what is DLC" question. As I assume once the novelty wears off it will gather dust, but again "how much gaming do you do".

i doubt our inet connection speed is up to live gaming tbh,

i used to play halo, forza, games like that, obviously nothing online as i didnt know xbox charged for online!.

another reason i was going xbox is the GF likes the kinect, but again i cant use the PS3 controllers anyway so thats ok!

It's rather poorly advertised almost as if they don't want to shift their old christmas stock

250Gb console alone is £150
Kinect + Adventures is £85
Kinect + Adventures + Sports + Dance Central is £100

Utter steal at those prices - better still if you can get discount :D
