"2005 - 2012
This is the end of the line my friends. The decision does not come easy, but we've decided to voluntarily shut down. We've been fighting for years for your right to communicate, but it's time to move on. It's been an experience of a lifetime, we wish you all the best!"

wow, things feel like they are really changing on the net these days, times like this I'm glad I've got netflix, came just in time it seems.

Netflix has got the right idea. Why pirate stuff when Netflix is cheap, easy and legal?

Does netflix have the same kind of quality that a HD channel has? If not, then there is your answer. Plus, there are certain shows that get shown in America months, if not years, before we get it.

If netflix had the kind of range of tv shows that you can get from other places and the quality was as good as the other places, then I'd get a subscription in a heart beat.

Times really are changing, if only one of the newsgroups would fall as well then it really would show a sisemic shift.

Loltorrents.

Love it when people on this forum say something like this (ignoring the lolxxx meme which is really ready to die) torrents are still massively popular the vast majority of ordinary people downloading stuff are not using ssl newsgroups behind three proxies and through a vpn. They are using which ever method is free and simple assuming everyone is as techy as the average user on this forums is laughable!

It will always be replaced

have you not been following the news. This isn't the first site to go down recently on its own accord, after other sites have been arrested. That combined with new laws being pushed through. We aren't seeing a repeat of years ago, this is something new.
I bet newsgroups are loving it, they must be seeing a surge in subscriptions.

People don't realise that people don't pirate to get free stuff, it's the service they get. However now netflix is showing it's head in the UK, hopefully media companies will give netflix full rights to show everything STRAIGHT away, this is the age where companies realise it's SERVICE that counts.

I've been a netflix user for a month now, enjoy the service it offers and my programs always run in HD.

LOL, not saying it's the only driver but to say it's nothing to do with it is frankly ridiculous otherwise the level of music piracy would be tiny as 99% of it is available for download from simple services at a reasonable price.

Because installing an NZB client and inputting your newsgroup details is so much more technical than installing uTorrent and sorting out the port forwarding right?

Almost everything I have watched has been in HD quality as good as I can get on the telly.
There is not as much stuff as on the US service, but that's to be expected, ours is brand new.
