Fat...?

There's levels of being large. The girl in the OP is just fat, where-as the girl on the right here:

I could quite happily bone.

Agreed!

I think if she is happy then let her be. Personally I don't really have a problem with her size.

Some of the comments in here are simply lolworthy. Go for a photoshoot in your best undies trying to strike a sexy pose and let women comment on your body. Because by the sounds of some you lot you are certainly what most 'women' would find attractive or hot

Not being model material yourself does not mean you can't have an opinion on someone else :)

I don't like my body, and I'm doing things to sort it out (I am too fat). But that doesn't mean I have to find other people I consider fat attractive.

Then, when the news is constantly going on about a dangerous increase in the amount of people in this country being overweight, we now have overweight models.

But larger models are role-models for confidence, realism and perhaps the reduction of eating disorders (I'm not familiar with stats on this), not to do with attractiveness. I don't think a widespread use of larger models would change eating habits for the worse in the teenage to young adult age brackets that are most influenced by this sort of thing.

Ironically probably by a man who isn't in peak shape himself.

There might well be a lot of that in this thread ;)

Facially, I'd says she's more attractive, but weight-wise she looks about the same to me.

So there i was doing a bit of shopping on my own and having a cursory glance in the Ann Summers window...as you do, when i noticed a rather sizeable model in one of the window pictures.

Apparently some size 16 woman one a competition to be the new face of Ann Summers, and this is her:

Now, do not get me wrong, I LOVE curvy women and I'm not a fan of women who have the figure of a 10 year old boy ( i.e. Keira Knightley).Neither do i think the girl who won that competition is hideous.

I do think though ,that essentially, she is fat. It keeps going on about 'curvy' women but let's face it, she is not just curvy...

For years we have had people complaining that the stick thin models we see everywhere are causing women and young girls to damage their health by getting too thin. Now however, Ann Summer seem to have just gone too far the other way and promoted a look that is, essentially, overweight.

I then walked into Marks and Spencer's and was greeted with Lisa Snowdon in a bikini....much better!

Cover the shadow cast by her arm and you have a size 8. :D

id be fine with that, whilst not exactly super ripped I'm thin enough that with the good lighting and posing on offer to the girl in the OP id be certainly worlds better off! 18 months ago, id be not far behind her...which is why i got off my fat lazy backside and lost some weight!

You're missing the point that what you or I might find attractive, isn't necessarily determined by one's own physical attractiveness.

Some ugly men are still able to attract women with their character, confidence, wallet, or willy. You, for example, choose the medium of the sweater.

Tubby or not tubby... fat, is the question

Missed that, very good :D.

Meh,

She could lose a few pounds, but who said that only people within a specific perfect weight category can model clothes.

It's preferable to the constant steam of air-brushed stick-insects, at least it's realistic.

Role-models for:

Confidence - yeah, because it's good to be overweight, leading to a reduced life (in terms of longevity and quality).

Realism - yeah, just because the average waistline is increasing, models should represent this and we shouldn't say it's an unhealthy trend.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Why shouldn't companies use models that conform to the range of products that they are selling? Also, being overwieght does not necessarily mean you are unhealthy. In fact, I'd bet that many catwalk models will have or already have underlying health issues.

Having a person of a healthy weight, who used to be overweight (or underweight), telling their story wouldn't be better.

And a visual merchandiser accomplishes this in a shop window how?

edit: and ye, those aren't curves... they're rolls.
That made me chuckle :o

The woman isn't grossly fat like obese... but she is deffo overweight and overweight = not healthy. I think companies should at least promote their brands by using a healthy 'normal' sized model, e.g. someone with a normal BMI

She is a beast, and a photoshopped beast to say the least.

Saying that once upon a time when I was a single lad, I would have taken her home with a kebab after a night out.
