The new BMW M6

That's a nice looking car indeed, big improvement on the old one. I particularly like the convertible. I am really not going to miss the 'Bangle' era cars. Less wacky and more svelt and clean cut, just plain handsome really :)

Could you suggest some in a similar or better class if you think there are many?

Maybe many was an exaggeration but there are some... Assuming that anyone looking at £90k for a car isn't going to be concerned about 10k give or take (why would they) then :

CL63 AMG = £103K~
Maserati Gran Turismo S = Up to £100k
Jaguar XK-RS = £97K
Audi RS5 = Up to £85k

Big, fast, comfortable alternative GT cars. Probably 1 or 2 more I've missed but those are the ones I thought of immediately.

If 10k buys a car that looks nicer and feels nicer then it's not that much surely, especially to someone buying in that price range to begin with. It's a lot of money to you and I but not to them I'd imagine.

Well I don't think I could have persuaded my dad to add an extra £10k on top of what he was already spending on a new M6 to get something slightly better. :p

Well you're completely wrong on the CL63 amg pricing I just double checked and my initial estimate was close it's 116k... over 20k more than an m6 with lower performance figures.

Also to clarify have you driven the new m6 because how could you possibly know that the cars you listed feel nicer if you haven't?

Oh I got the price from auto express's video page - As for the new M6, of course not, but what makes you think it will better quality than a Maserati or a CL?

I never said it would be better quality but it could be on par with the CL at least. It's an M performance car so unless they've suddenly lost their touch it should be a top quality car.

It's a 5 series coupe isn't it? It's going to drive like an M car but feel like a 5 series, just cost way way more. The F10 isn't exactly amazing feeling on the inside.

His M6 didn't cost £93k odd though.

The point is I'd still regard £10k as a lot of money (and I think many others would) to add on simply to get something slightly better - even at that price range. Maybe not if you were looking for a £200k Ferrari though!

I'm so glad they broke up that ridiculously huge smile the new 6 Series has. It looked awful. :p

So basically then it actually undercuts what you think is the competition, and alongside the 3 Series Class RS5 is actually something of a bargain?

The 6 Series is positioned above the 5 Series in the range. It is not a 5 Series Coupe in the same way that, say, a 3 Series Coupe is a Coupe version of the 3 Series Saloon. It shares tech, sure, but the interior and exterior are different. There is a 4 door saloon on the horizon as well - it is between 5 and 7 (Hence 6) and not equal to the 5.

I suppose so, sorry, it's just the way I feel about it. Will the quality of materials be any different as well then btw?

I know for sure that if I one day have enough cash to look at cars in the 100k price bracket that I'd still sit there in the show room vehicle and think to myself "I really don't want to spend this much money on a car that doesn't feel like its worth this asking price" having recently spent some time between Jag/Merc and BMW dealers.

I'd want to actually spend more on something that felt like it was closer to the price.

I forgot the snazzy interior:

I know these pictures should be taken some % of salt, however those gaps between the doors and the sides of the dash looks quite large!

That wheel :(

The M Sport wheel is just way nicer:

Nice exhaust note on the 650 too so I imagine the M6 will sound even better :p
