Hey guys, currently in a Internet cafe in Palolem in India. On a hour early before meeting a friend online for a Skype chat so thought I would post my adventure so far to pass the time.

I arrived at Mumbai a week ago, it is simply insane. I got a taxi with a French couple from the station to CST (central Mumbai train station). It took 2 hours in the taxi and frankly, the roads through Mumbai were just insane. I am a keen biker and don't scare easily but my lord, a few brown trouser moments!

We haggled around to find somewhere to sleep, eventually found a place and kipped up. Earlier in the day I booked a train for 0655 to Goa, 12 hours!!! The train journey though wasn't too bad.

Arrived in Goa fairly late and made my way to Palolem beach to find my pre booked Hostel. Kipped up and got some much needed rest!

It was my birthday on Wednesday and I met a guy from Belgium that has been here for about a month so said he would treat me by going out on a couple of bikes to see some other beaches and the local area above North Goa.

Was simply the best day of my life! Riding a old Enfield around India. Couldn't have been a better way to spend my birthday.

Anyway, been meeting tons of people, last night I spent the evening drinking with 5 locals and one guy from England around a beach fire, talking broken English! Was a very nice evening.

Already a wall of text so will wrap up with some pictures and update with a full wall of text of my measly short 3 week adventure.

Me patting Betty (my name for the Enfield) on the arse after riding for about 3 hours.

And finally, this is what I see every night as I eat dinner, couldn't be more perfect!

Cheers!

They need some more bins.

Sadly, I have not seen one bin... Maybe a couple of bags, but here it seems littering is the thing to do. Shame really as it's the only thing that has really ruined some areas. Lucky to have such an effective bin service at home!

Glad you're enjoying it. I'll be there in 12 days for a 2 week break and to see relatives. I havent been in 20 years and I'm looking forward to it even more after seeing your pics.

Nice.

Do not login to any important accounts/banking/email in any Indian net cafes!

Well he's just logged into here, so there's a good chance they have his OCUK login (and possibly passwords for everything else then) ;) Maybe they could use his account for the free shipping.

As much as I love your photos - India is one of the few countries I have no intention of ever visiting.....

You didn't ride the Enfield through Mumbai then Chris :D

Probably best that he didn't, lol.

I'm a born and bred Indian and i'm terrified of driving near a 'busy area' in a relatively organized city.

Took a bunch of driving lessons in London and when I was in India, though I would practice some. Got near a roundabout and had people coming at me from all 4 sides!

Fantastic trip report so far. As with email security, I'm hoping that you are using 2-step login with Gmail. That isn't so easy to crack than having just a password that can be unearthed by a password sniffer.
