Top Gear Series 18 *SPOILERS*

Hammond was annoying me, the chase scene just took too long and didn't deliver. Disappointed as a whole, with celeb being one of the better bits which is normally the section I dislike the most.

These comments about how it's so crap now are just boring.

Yes we know it seems to have changed, but you can only do things so many times and you were easier to please when you were younger, anyway :p

I like some episodes better than others, and I almost always hate the star in a reasonably priced car feature, but it's still entertaining to watch, almost certainly more entertaining than anything else that is on at 20.00 on a Sunday evening.

Never one to stand in the way of progress are you.

Maybe the BBC should make a program especially for you, in which they blow up caravans for 60 minutes and snigger at the camera profusely. Hammond can present it, because he has lots of experience doing kids TV.

That programme has already been made, it was on Sky One and it wa called Brainiac.

Blow up caravans. Check.
1hr duration. Check.
Lots of sniggering at camera. Check.
Presented by Hammond. Check.

;)

Jeremy even warned this one was an arse around. No excuse for watching then coming here to moan this week.

The angry director and Hammond's sound effects were amusing, but a shame we didn't get to see the real ST.

They do make a program to cater for people like him.

It's called top gear and its enjoyed by many more than just those on the internet who find it too low brow.

I was really disappointed when they said it wasn't, that was the only thing I was looking forward too in that episode :(

Will the proper ST be making an appearance this season?

I believe that was a real Focus ST they used...not yet available for purchase.

Jeremy just said that it wasnt to cover it up :p

I found it really enjoyable, the edits had me in stitches, and so did the director going ape at the pair of them. The only bit that bored me was when JC was trying to give new lines to the actors about the Jags Traction Control, went on too long and was a bit cringeworthy. All in all though, I thoroughly enjoyed it, Ryan Renolds is brilliantly funny :D

no I really don't think it was, it sounded pants, a real 5 pot st would have some real grunt to it.

It isn't hard to swap over a few panels to make it look like one.

The new ST isn't a 5 pot, it's a 250bhp 2 litre 4-pot with a turbo.

It also gets a limited slip differential to keep it competitive with the new Megane RS, the new Astra OPC/VXR, etc.

Much better in theory having better economy and more power. And probably even more tidy on the corners with the lighter engine and LSD.

But it's definitely losing one of it's biggest attractions. The 5 pot soundtrack.

Blame the ever-tightening EU regulations for that. The new ones have caused quite a shift in the HH market - no more 3+ litre V6s in hatches, no more CTR, no more 5-pot ST/RS, and I believe the NA engine in the Clio RS also had to go.

As said..it's not longer a 5 pot..plus it was more than 'a few panel changes'. Bigger brakes behind the wheels plus the centre exit exhaust gives it away.

Not so easy to just swap around, those parts.

I would put my house on it that it wasn't a real ST.

So it would be next to impossible to make a mock up exhaust to make it look like an ST? and swap some brakes over?

It had no engine note to it whatsoever..........
