AMD HD7770 PR Stunt ?

Doh! Cheers!

I really can't believe the price..

Its not surprising that stock of an older card reaching EOL will make it better value for money. Look at the discounted GTX470,GTX480,HD5850 and HD5870 cards last year. You could pick up HD5870 1GB and GTX480 cards for around £160 brand new last year.

The HD4870 1GB was cheaper by the time the HD5770 1GB was launched and it is the same with loads of cards. The HD5770 1GB launched at between £115 to £145 and the HD4870 1GB was faster overall in the games at the time and cheaper. The HD6870 was around £170 to £190 at launch and you could get HD5850 1GB cards cheaper than that IIRC. The HD6850 1GB was around the £150 mark at launch for most models. In both cases the older cards had dropped in price massively since launch and were better value.

Remember, the prices of the HD5850 1GB dropped to such an extent, that for a while the HD6850 1GB at around £110 to £120 looked relatively poor value.

As with a lot of new cards, pricing will eventually drop to lower levels especially when stocks of the older cards are depleted.

screw the 7770 if it is not going to be much more powerful than my 5770... think I'll go 6870 or wait for the price of the 560ti to fall.

The 5770 wasn't much faster than the 4870. It just had more vram and DX11.

There's no reason to think that the 7770 will be anything more than it is. An entry level DX11.1 or whatever it is card with entry level performance.

It's already been hinted at that it's not much faster than a 5770, it just has a 7 in its name.

Not really sure what people are expecting for £120 or so. Miracles? not.

The 5770 and 4870 trade blows, one isn't indefinitely faster than the other. They also both came in 512 and 1GB variants.
For 120 people are expecting a generation of improvement (Or even two generations of improvement) over the 5770, what we've gotten is pathetic.
