VW recall - Injectors on PD140 and PD170s

Hi Guy's,
had ours done last week at our vw dealership, they had our Golf 2.0 tdi 170,
paper work says all injectors and loom replaced FOC,
NOW we were told will NOT notice any difference, not true much beter performance
dont know why but not complaining.
BUT fuel econemy absolute sh it, not happy, have informed VW, RESPONSE, please fill with fuel make note mileage, when fuel light comes on, fill again, make note of mileage when fuel light comes on then report back.

Mines heading back in next week 4 months after they replaced all 4 & loom as it appears all is not well under the rocker cover where they have been messing!!!

The weather of the last few days will have affected economy if you drive long distance, a usual run on the M4 has taken me from 50mpg to 41 today (driving head on into the wind this is) are you sure it's nothing like this or you testing out your newly restored performance?

I have a Golf - March 2005 2.0 tdi 140 Should i be contacting VW. The thought of the engine cutting out on the motorway with my 2 year old strapped in the rear seat.

By all means contact VW, can't hurt (much...). Some 140s are affected, but not all. Know your engine code?

Without wanting to sound like a ****... while it is far from ideal (hence the recall) there are far worse things that could happen when driving than the engine cutting out.

Yep. I had the throttle jam open once on the M60 just as the traffic ahead was stopping due to a jam.

And no, before anyone asks it wasn't a TDI.

As for the 2005 PD140, it's highly unlikely. It's the later cars with cleverer siemens injectors that are affected.

I will give them a call.

I had a alternator on a mark 4 golf explode( go bang ) on the m40 few years ago took out the power steering belt which was scary. In hindsight a tyre blowout is a worse scenario on a motorway.

I had all 4 injectors changed on my Audi A4 yesterday, it now drives a lot smoother and quieter. That's even coming from the A6 they gave me as a courtesy car :D

Mine were changed yesterday too, I agree seems to be smoother.

edit: I seem to be getting around 20% economy increase according to the trip computer.

On top of the smoother, quieter ride my fuel economy has increased too, I averaged 44.6mpg over 24 miles which was made up of aprox 13 miles of windy lanes, 7 miles of urban and 4 miles of dual carriage way :)

99% sure you're fine, they have been replacing them with a different part for a year or so I believe. I suspect the failure rate over time may have gone up somewhat and their hand was forced in this matter.

They've just phoned me asking me to drop my car in to get them checked out!

My Dad's A4 estate is going in on Friday, I believe it's the 2.0 170, he's hoping the injectors will be raplaced as it's done 110k :)

Steering column problem is a simple fix now of a new part in the ignition, it used to be an entire column replacement.
