Came across this while browsing the lasted copy of Edge... http://dear-esther.com/ I wasn't aware of the HL-2 mod that has now given birth to this stand-alone version.

I think it looks rather amazing in a non flashy way, with stunning art design, and immaculate detail; the atmosphere it creates is something akin to Stalker [built on Portal2's Source engine]. The gameplay, if you can call it that? seems like an antidote to high adrenaline first person shooters.

It launches on Steam on the 14th of Feb and will retail at $9.99.

Its not going to appeal to everyone, that's for sure, but I for one will be downloading on release day.

why have i never heard of this before, looks absolutley stunning, this is certainly on my radar, if i have some disposable income around release i my just have to get this.

Thoroughly enjoyed the original mod, fingers crossed this new version has all of the charm of the original.

Play the original, it's still brilliant.

That and Korsakovia, also a mod but one of the most atmospheric, unnerving and well put together games ever made.

If any kind of game ever deserved to title of "art", then it's those two.

Been looking forward to this for a while, launches today but doesn't seem to be available on Steam in the UK which is a shame.

PC Gamer awarded it 84% and Bit-Tech gave it 90%.

Can some1 give me a brief description on what this game involves? I have never heard of this and the link is blocked at my workplace.

Looks and sounds interesting, first thing I thought off after watching the trailer were those very early PC Alan Wake screen shots and artwork, great scenery, deserted panoramic views etc. I am certainly interested enough to pay $10 for it anyway, especially if it's as replayable as some previews say.

waiting eagerly for the release, still very interested in this, real shame there is no preorder/preload, means i probably wont get to play it till the weekend

I really hope those just coming upon Dear Esther and saying they will buy it purely on looks have done some research into exactly what the game is.

For instance davethe11, no, it's nothing like the Myst series, it's nothing like anything.
