Fancy a Tattoo. Thoughts?

I don't have a tattoo but my understanding is that if you decide you do really want one and would like it to be a bit individual (generally a plus point for tattoos I think) then going to a good tattooist with some source material should enable them to sketch out a design that you're happy with. That way you get something unique and then once you get the design tattooed they'll (quite possibly) have a nice piece of art to put in their portfolio to show potential clients.

It's obviously up to you, a tattoo can mean something very personal or it can be a completely generic piece that you like the look of - there's no right or wrong here.

I've Decided I want a tattoo.

I want a skinny ish tattoo (dont have very beefy arms) for the top of my shoulder down my arm

Thoughts on this?

I like it.

Any other suggestions around that design?

Cheers
What year were your born?
If it was 1976, then that fire dragon tatoo would be most apt, else i dont see the point.

Meh, it's your body at the end of the day. Adorn yourself whatever way you feel. Could get a giant penis tattooed on your buttcheck if you fancy and it's really got nothing to do with anyone else.

If you need to seek approval from others, though, you're maybe not as set on it as you think.

mMMM I would really think twice about that tattoo tbh... unless it means something to you?

I think it's just a generic, stupid design.

Now, I have a tattoo but it is quite different and really means something to me so I'd say that's allowed ...

Why don't you think up a design yourself? At least it would be original?

To be fair a lot of people have hit the nail on the head! If you're getting tribal either go the full hog (sleeve) or be stuck with an awefully generic piece looking like you picked it out at random.

At least the OP sounds sensible by having one thats hidden.

The amount of morons I see out now with tattoos all over their arms and necks, as well as holes in their ears is amazing.

No wonder we employ people who look normal from Eastern European countries.

Respect to the OP for at least keeping under wraps.

The ONLY tattoo I would get is Paw Prints somewhere, as it has a special meaning for me.

Shame I cant though, as thats really for women.

OMG why are people saying get a sleeve?! They are so lame.

I always said, I probably wouldn't get a tattoo.

But why not.. Its not like my sister.

She has ESSEX tattoo'd on her back.... She wouldn't listen to anyone saying to her. Your going to be 80 at some point with Essex written on your back.

Now that's awkward.

Hang on wtf.... whos gonna be looking at an 80yr olds back anyway?!

And at 80 are you really going to give a ****?!

I love the idea that in a few years there is going to be a generation of 80 year olds with prefect breasts and tattoos. :)

Firstly, make sure you get something special to you, not just something generic that lots of people will have. I have not a tattoo but if I did I would want to be sure that it is a one off.
Secondly, don't put it anywhere that will a) make you look a **** when older (such as on forearms, wrists, hands, neck, head and b) will stop you getting a job.

I am not saying get a tattoo, what I am saying is pick carefully as you will be left with it for the rest of your life. Even when you are 80 you will still have it!

You've come to your senses, that is a terrible tattoo. Imo random tattoos scattered over bodies look silly, go big or go home, not that I have any but if I did I would put a lot of thought into a large tattoo that's blended well.

You have made a start, thats all. You kinda like that but now you realise why it might not be the best tattoo for you. Now you just have to personalise and expand upon the idea, take as much time as you like, talk to some arty friends and see what kind of images you can come up with that you reeeeeaaaalllllyyyy like.

get something you won't get bored with, something that will ALWAYS mean something to you and a design that you WON'T get bored with (i'm stressing this out a lot!)

I got a tattoo last year, I wanted one since I was 19, found the design when I was 21, had it print out and stuck it on my wall for 9 months, then one day came across a tattoo salon which is nearby, is highly recommended and had the same exact design on someone else in a different scale and place, so went and done it.

another friend done it on her hand, everyday she thinks it gets worse and wants to re-do it to get better.

P.S. recommend doing it somewhere where you cannot see it normally.
