Do I have to un-install amd driver to install new one? am on 11.12 and when I check for an update they is 12.1 but when I download it and install it, it dont change just stays at same version?

Anyone had this.

lol - 7900 users can't use the latest 12.x drivers mate. We have completely different drivers which havn't been integrated into the general driver rollouts yet.

We've only got 11.12 drivers available to us, so pointless installing 12.1 ;)

Catalyst C appears to do a good job of keeping everything up to to date so no, I would just follow the update instructions. If installing a new card I would uninstall first and run drivers sweeper .. just to be sure. No much point in spending £400+ on a new card then take a few shortcuts. Might be an over kill but it doesn't hurt.

How come its recommending me the update?

If it were me I'd go to 11.12's, 12.1 cause me a few weird things in BF3 running quadfire and 12.2/12.3RC are a mess... 11.12's are SOLID!

I always unsinstall from Windows Install then run AtiMan Uninstaller!

Because there is a new 12.1 driver but it doesnt know that it doesnt support the 7900 series cards. Use this one - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/RC11Driver.aspx

There will likely be another soon as the new 7700 series are using a newer driver but that didnt come with the 79xx inf files. If nothing, then the official 12.2 drivers in a week or so might include support - but I'd guess they might wait for the 78xx release at the end of the month for unification.
