7770

Apparently these cards are a monster fail, far less performance than a 6850 and £50 more expensive.

no thanks.....

ocuk have them for £116 - thats £25 more than the special offer 6850`s

anyway they are replacing the 6770 not the 6850...

Waht was AMD thinking? Doesnt matter WHAT they are replacing - 6850 or 6770, but FOR THE PRICE with the new gen we get less performance at higher cost?!! What?:)

I bet Gibbo isn't too happy, he probably launched the 6850 sale anticipating 7770 launch, not expecting AMD to embarrass themselves like that.

Just goes to show how good of a deal those 6850's are. I wouldn't pay an extra £20-30 for the new generation slower card even if it does run a little cooler. As for running dual 7750s? I would have thought you'd be better off with a single card solution, perhaps grabbling a 2GB 6950 and then pairing it up with another one down the line.

What card is the new 7770 the equivelent to in the last gen ? a 6750 ?

soppsed to be 5770>6770>7770

the 5750>6750>7750 , the 7750 is actually slot powered and doesnt require a 6 pin power

performance wise its just as AMD want - its a speed bump over teh MID RANGE 6770

£115 for the Sapphire 7770 that's not a bad price given it's brand new but you can shop around and get a 6870 for £116. I was so looking forward to the 7770, it should have been the fitting replacement for one of the best video cards of all time but we end up with an underwhelming overpriced white elephant.

I have to say I completely agree. It's one thing to charge an exuberant price for something that has a clear lead in the market, but to think you can get away with price hiking on something so poor is madness.

I am beginning to wonder what the hell is going on at AMD. It seems every time they build up bravado over a product it turns out to be a wet curry fart, yet every time they keep their mouth shut about something it's actually rather special.

The 7970 didn't really arrive with too much fanfare. I guess it was able to stand up and speak for itself. But to hand out bottles of pills, create a website and even make videos you would expect it to at least be worth having.

And it isn't. Sorry to you guys who have bought one, but that's just how it is. I have seen one "nice" review on the entire internet and that was from Tom Logan over at OC3D. And I really have to question his ethics if I'm honest. Why give something a bronze award, heck, any award if it really is as poor as it is?

That's like being nice to the Bulldozer CPUs. I mean, it was possible (new technology that really needs a new kernel and so on) but the bottom line is performance, and price to performance.

Something the 7770 just completely falls on its face at.

Reading those reviews, is it just me who is missing something? A card is released that has less performance than a last gen card yet costs more?
Maybe I am missing the point?

Was holding out for the 7770 to be released with the aim of buying one instead of a 6850/6870, but considering the reviews, I'll be going for the Asus preorder offer instead.
