Virgin Media Discussion Thread

That all looks fine really.
well i don't know whats wrong then.

even my virgin tv as been playing up e,g blured picture, freezes, pixelated ect.

when the virgin tech guy came before, he said the virgin tv voltage affects the voltage/ect to the superhub, and they need to near enough match each other... is this true?

This is my graph since yesterday morning, quite pleased I have to say. I think the spikes there are when I was downloading news content (;o)

If I switched to BT Infinity, as well as being tied into an 18 months contract, it'll cost me £130 to install a new phone line.

Do I just wait till the summer and see if Virgin deliver? or jump ship?

Are you using the superhub then I take it? Not in modem only mode? TBH I'd stick it out and see what happens.

I just received an email from Virgin Media and I'm REALLY confused.

Someone please help me and tell me what the hell is going on or I will be cancelling the upgrade.

I am currently on the highest package of TV with their V+ HD box and I so far have had the 10Mb broadband package. This all cost me something of 50 pounds. Now I have upgraded just the broadband from 10Mb to 30Mb and the price difference seems to be just 5 pounds. But on my email it says that the bill will now be 63 POUNDS?!

What the hell?! This is more than 13 pounds and I should have just 5 pound more to pay.

Someone please help me.

Just switched to Virgin 30mb package after being on ADSL for 10 years. I had been stuck at 6mb for the last 6 years with be unlimited using ADSL2+.

I literally can't believe what I have been missing out on, these speeds are immense and it doesn't cost that much more than what ADSL was costing me.

I only had it installed yesterday and there was a major fault this morning causing all virgin tv, internet and phoneline services to go dead. Initially I was very annoyed but the first thing that I noticed was Virgin acknowledged the fault and had it all fixed by 2pm this afternoon with text messages updating me, whereas with beunlimited and BT they would never accept that it was on their end, it was always 'check your filters' 'plug into test socket' blah blah.

TLDR;

Switched from ADSL with Bethere to Virgin 30mb and very happy :)

Not sure if the right place to post:

Guys some help please - I'm considering this option and I'm currently on Be ADSL2+ paying 17.50 a month and BT 13.50 a month.

I'm eyeballing the VM package. I'm more in favor of the 30mb option, it's cheaper and plenty of usage.

In terms of:

Torrents, whats the worst slow down?
Anyone got a letter to say you've downloaded illegally?
Reliability?
Pings for gaming? I get 21 ... 25 (and that's poor by many standards)

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't cost you anything if you are taking Infinity and landline. The upfront cost gets waved.

I've just put my cancellation in for my Virgin Broadband tv and landline. Jumping over to Infinity.

Just the one thing that annoys me is their Traffic management. It's stupid and annoying. Sometimes you get cought out and your net gets cut by 75% other then that its great.

Where does it say it gets waived?

Also, if I install infinity, is there a time frame where I could cancel it? For example, it's installed and I'm not happy with it.

The line is installed free if you take infinity and bt call package, it's says to the left of the package price on the website. Free install.

It's totally dependant on the area in which you live, you could have a very good, stable connection or you could end up in a worse situation than what you are now.

Check http://community.virginmedia.com/ for your post code to see if others are having any problems.

Just to update my post. Just called and cancelled as it will not be just the 5 quid more for the broadband. It would have been 15 pound more.

Terrible advertising and hidden fees. :o

Thanks.

I am seriously tempted to switch but I have heard Infinity is not without its problems.

Can I have free 084* numbers with BT by the way?
