It Happens to the best of us (and the worst).

For University me and a friend are doing research into this.

We have Set up a blog, We urge you contribute Anything of use to the blog or this Thread.

Such as; Why you get Angry at Games? What Games are these? Do you do anything to combat this? ect..

Even doing the Poll will help a lot.

Video Game Raging Blog.

Thanks in Advance.

In your poll on the side you missed out a important option.

What do you think produces video-game violence/aggression/rage the most?

I would say put in losing. That's what gets me mad, and most of my friends. Especially for me in SC2 and even more so if I play like crap. But on the other end, I can win and play like crap and be happy!

Thats Very True.

I will try and update it.

I am the same, especially with FIFA. I can play a rubbish game agianst a hard team and still Win/Draw but when i come to play an easier team i play well but somehow lose. Thats what gets me worked up.

Out of interest what are you hopfing to achieve with the results compiled? Are you planing to create a drug that stops rage quitting? lol or is it just purley out of curiosity?

No game has made me rage quit like any other then Call of Duty, sometimes i can be brilliant other times i can get pwned!

For me it's got to be when games "cheat". Like rubber-banding in driving games, or in RTSs when the enemy can build and gather resources quicker than is actually possible.

It's a bit out of curiosty. To find out, Why its happening and whether the developers do it intentionally. We are just letting it roll for the time being.

I Played MW2 and it had the same affect, my parents and girlfriend noticed a change in me after playing it, especially when i lost 10 games in a row, after being top the previous day.

I can hand on heart say I have never raged at a game in my 23 years of playing them. I have also rarely raged at anything though, guess I am just a clam person.

I get allot of "I was round the ****ing CORNER!!!!!" in BF3, though I have been trying to tone it down since the neighbour banged on the wall the other week. I play with headphones so they probably just heard random shouting, must have thought I was having an argument with myself.

Since playing SC2 I have to say I very, very rarely get properly angry as a result of losing any more, annoyed yes but I consider that a natural response which makes me want to improve.

The only thing that really makes me "rage" now are games that call themselves "Hard" to disguise the fact that they are massively broken. I don't mind dying or losing because I was not good enough to beat something or someone (See Demon/Dark Souls or God of War as examples of this), what I don't like is when I lose or die as a result of a random coin toss to decide whether or not it is actually "possible" for me to win, Ninja Gaiden 2 is probably the best example of this.

I find the worst rage moments for me come in games that involve one-on-one competition. It's the fact I've been bettered by an opponent and made to feel inferior that makes me the most angry, as anybody competitive will testify. It is so much worse than the rage induced by somebody exploiting a bug, a game crashing out on you, something just being really hard or terrible partners / allies.

StarCraft 2 was one of my first proper experiences with competitive online (i.e. sinking hundreds of hours). Way back in the beta I'd sometimes lose my cool after losing a few matches in a row...which would mostly result in losing several more :p, until I'd finally wise up, just walk away and come back in a day or two with a clear mind to make up.

Gradually learned to cope and nowadays I manage just fine. However, I would never resort to BM or cheese, just would play far below my best.

Yeah, this is exactly what I mean - I remember playing Starcraft skirmishes on hard, with fog of war off to watch the AI for ideas, and seeing them pump out units far faster than possible.

If I'm losing I don't rage, I just get slightly annoyed and go and do something else.

I've never lost it, punched the monitor or anything that could be called "rage" such as that.

I also get a bit annoyed with games that don't work as they should or ctd, really grinds my gears how bug ridden pc gaming can be at times.

If you mean SC2 that's because hard and brutal AI gains minerals at a faster rate, which isn't a secret, if you mean SC1 I never played it but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same.

When I'm playing with crap teammates I can lose my cool. LoL and FPS games are the main ones for this. If I think someone's got my back and move in only to find that I'm on my own and die, then my score looks bad, that annoys me.
