The Mac said:
This CAT is missing the SDK, this causes all kinds of weird behavior if you try to cleansweep/atiman to remove prior CATs.

The simplest solution is to install 12.1 for none 7xxx users or before, then install this RC right over the top allowing CAT Manager to handle uninstalling necessarily components.

This will fix the AB OC issues, as well as the GPU-Z cat reporting issue...

The only thing ive found wrong with this release is after a length of time, powerplay ignores any unlocked vcore increases, and reverts to the bios default causing GPU resets if youve upped vcore and not flashed it to the bios.

AMD Catalyst™ Application Profiles 12.1 CAP 3
New profiles added to this release:
- Alan Wake - Improves CrossFire performance
- Syndicate – Improves both single GPU and CrossFire performance
- Darkness 2 – Improves CrossFire performance
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – Improves CrossFire performance for the AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series to avoid negative scaling at low resolutions
- Natural Selection 2 – Fixes shadow map flickering issue seen with CrossFire enabled

Damn it I have an issue with these drivers, and actually every other one EXCEPT the original 11.12 RC (ie the first 7970 driver).

After installing and rebooting, the PC will BSOD about 30 seconds after the desktop loads, OR if I try to access the control centre before that. No matter what I do, this happens.

I've tried the usual uninstall-sweep-install, and installing over the older drivers and it's always the same :(

Worth noting is that I disable D3DOverrider and MSI afterburner from autostarting before installing new drivers, just in case they're causing grief.

Would be interested if anyone else has issues!

Win 7 x64 SP1; 7970x2 (Powercolor).

Yes I have overclocked but as I mentioned, I disable afterburner before any driver updates.

I did a fresh install yesterday and low and behold it works :D now the only issue is that neither TRIXX nor AB can overclock. The former moans about ULPS being on (it's off) and the latter just keeps resetting to default clocks. I've read similar reports on guru3d so will investigate further.

As for my OC, it was 1150/1625 at 1.2v. My cards are water-cooled (reserator xt that only cools them) so idle temps low 30s and full Furmark load of around 59 after an hour.

Stop sweeping.... Its not needed and I doubt AMD will refer to the Driversweeper authors when they make changes.

It boggles my mind how people will trust a bedroom programmer to hose their system files over the guys who wrote the thing in the first place.

Erm, I don't think you've read my post properly. I said I tried a sweep, as well as just installing without a sweep.

I've had many an issue solved because of lingering crap that sweeper has sorted out, but as a rule I just use a normal uninstall/install without driver sweeping. I only sweep when an install BSODs continuously for example, like the problems I was having.

Perhaps now you're mind is a little less boggled.

The point is you sweep once and then the damage can be permanent, some drivers will install and some wont.

I tested by installing about 6 sets of drivers, then i sweep then only 2 sets would install and the only way to fix that was system restore.
Then i did a fresh OS install and did it all again to make sure the first test was not a fluke and the same results happened.
