Happy with the appointment, hopefully he won't take no crap from Bates. If he gets us up I can see him getting an extension.

He'll get an extension regardless, well he should, he's the best there is out there right now for this division, we aren't getting promoted this season.

I suspect there's some wage bonus etc where we finish this season hence why it's a short term deal.

A manager needs to come in and the squad needs a overhaul really, our starting 11 is decent but the squad on a whole is awful, especially in defence.

Emotional day for me. Devastated I couldn't play, ecstatic we won, sad to leave EFC. Thank you for the memories I will never forget. Most of all, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family #OnceAToffeeAlwaysAToffee

Ravel Morrison fined £7000 by FA for homophobic use of Twitter

West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison has been fined £7,000 by the Football Association in response to a homophobic remark made on Twitter.

Morrison, who completed an undisclosed switch to Upton Park from Manchester United at the end of January, is reported to have made the comment in response to another Twitter user.

The 19-year-old was also warned as to his future conduct by the FA after he admitted a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words including a reference to a person's sexual orientation.

This prohibits the use "of abusive and/or insulting words including a reference to a person's sexual orientation".

Morrison was widely regarded as one of the most talented youngsters ever to be unearthed by Manchester United, but was sold by the English champions to second-tier West Ham amid ongoing off-the-field problems.

Two days after winning the 2011 FA Youth Cup, Morrison was fined £600 by a court for throwing his girlfriend's mobile phone out of a window during an argument.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of witness intimidation last year and has a police caution for assaulting his mother.

What an idiot he really is. Glad we got rid.

Yes or no?......

Amen. I totally agree. I knew the buzz around him coming from Old Trafford and the tags about him being the next megastar to come from the youth development but almost as soon as the buzz started, the rumours about his behaviour and attitude started in just as loud a way. I read something during the transfer window that suggested that the club felt Morrison was hanging out with the wrong kind of people for his career, and potential, to be realised properly at OT. Hopefully being shunted off to a non-PL team (OK, they might be PL again next season) was a good hard shock for him. I think we're all reasonably agreed that he's very talented. Unfortunately his mental attitude is seriously lacking and I hope he sorts that out soon.

Did we actually get any £££ for him or was it a free transfer Robbo? I just hope MU and Rio can persuade Pogba to stay. I've seen him make some first team appearances and I've been impressed. Yes he's young, but I just love the way he runs about all over the place. If we keep Pogba and play Cleverley it might soon be a case that we'll forget about Morrison. :)

Oh and the new England shirt looks rubbish but the pic is quite small. However I think it looks less rubbish than the shirt it replaces. Hopefully the FA won't ruin the away red shirt. That's the classic thanks to 1966. :)

then I think the punishment is ridiculous, folks are far too sensitive these days
Well I'm not sure whoever called him names first complained about it. Plus the FA can't punish whoever it was, but they can punish Morrison because his language isn't suitable considering the FA is trying to make it possible for gay footballers to come out. They clearly don't want footballers to hold back from making that announcement if their colleagues are writing stuff like that on Twitter.

The Morrison transfer was an undisclosed fee.

I too hope Pogba sorts himself out because quite frankly he looks to be a great prospect but it's very concerning that he appears to have an ego problem. :(

That's what I thought. I'm guessing whatever Newcastle offered was lower than West Ham's offer then.

Yeah. He's quickly replacing Morrison as our brilliant potential but wants loads of money player. Hopefully we can stem the tide with Pogba. :)

I don't know what it is with these players wanting all this money when they aren't ready for it in terms of quality to justify a regular first team place that they need to justify the salary they want. Look at Jones, Smalling and Evans for young, yet established players who seem to already have worked out what it means to be a Man Utd player. They all seem to realise that the club is bigger than them and its an honour for THEM to play for the club, not for the club to have them.

I worry that its also the agents for Morrison and Pogba reckoning they can just demand unrealistic salaries from us, knowing that they either get it or they tell their player they need to leave to further their career and end up at a club willing to pay them the salary they just can't justify yet.

I completely agree. I don't understand their mentality either.

Pogba will be on a very fair whack for someone his age no doubt, and he's effectively proved nothing at a high level - yet.

but faggot is used by certain groups in society as a general insult anyway these days, not nice but that's how it is
