Looking at changing my car soon (07 FN2 Civic type r) and an Edition 30 has popped up locally, specs are as follows :

Diamond Black
07 plate
49k
DSG
5 door

It's from an approved vw dealer, up for 12k but can be negotiated down to around 11k I believe.

Any thoughts on this car? I've taken it for a drive and it seems great, but can't help thinking its a bit too similar to my own to be putting it and another 4k or so on top.

Also thinking about going the other way price wise and picking up an 04 ST220 for about 3.5k and not have to worry about too much depreciation.

Pirelli interior is far nicer and more exclusive.
The wheels are a bit marmite but they're easily changed.

Ed30's remap really well to around 300bhp, as they have the same TFSI spec engine as the S3 but running a more conservative base map.

Pirelli is the same car mechanically.

Sure, the R32 is a great sounding car but one at the same sort of age will be £460 a year to tax, around 10mpg worse on fuel and not really much faster. Don't get me wrong I'd love one but the Edition 30 seems like a far better all rounder.

Looked at the 335i and 330i but unfortunately it would need to be a touring as I need to cart a dog around so the saloon/coupe is out.

I say go for it. It'ssimilar to yours in that it's a HH, but the actual drive will be a lot different, no need to wring it's neck to get the power out, far more "lazy" power delivery.

From what I was told, the Ed30 is a better all round car than the R32 as well.

Totally agree. :D
