Old news really, original concept was back in 2009...The concept was basically to reduce the size of our plugs in the UK:

More news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17118938

And a website: https://www.themu.co.uk/

Personally, I think it's cracking, no, not everyones going to go out and buy one, but I can see it as a good alternative for carrying plugs in your bag for phones etc etc

Also, apologies if a pear roast

save the cheerleader, save the planet

ouch yes £25 quid is a bit steep, im sure they will sell a few.

No thanks. If anything the rest of the world should start using BS 1363.

Just looks like it's easier to break and accidentally pull out.

Doubt that would happen though, as many country's would need to re-do practically everything electric wise

IIRC, It failed to catch on due to sum regulation in the UK about the plug pins needing to be a certain distance apart (why that matters I don't know)

Will it fold in on itself if I stand on it, and those mean that I don't have to suffer the worst pain known to man? If not, I'm out.

Well, it's being sold as of tomorrow, so surely it's passed that now? :)

Basically - I won't be happy until they invent a plug that turns into a stress ball type texture when in contact with a foot :p

I havent recalled seeing any of these anywheres, as people said it's probably a prototype that didn't get anywhere...

£25 is also very steep for a darn plug!

Glad to see it is progressing. I was impressed with it when I first saw it and was disappointed to find it never made it into production.

I for one am slightly annoyed but I'm hoping this is the stepping stone to the actual product envisioned originally; the 'Mu' really doesn't do the original design any justice. It can't be placed side by side in an adaptor like the original space-saving concept due to the now forward folding 'wings' and is now a mere USB charger... I for one am disappointed.

BS 1363 is one of the few things that still makes me proud to be British.

It truly is far superior to the crap other countries use.

Edit: I remember this from a few years back and it was much better then. Disappointed. What was wrong with the original (I have no sound for the vid)?

Having just looked on the website I agree. I am really disappointed it is not what was originally designed.

I wish we used a better grounded plug system. Thailand plugs rock and are earthed.

Sure, you cannot open them up and rewire them but they are tiny, earthed and carried easily in laptop bags etc.
