ANOTHER shooting at a US school

Some people want to kill other people sadly and access to guns makes things worse. It's a shame people can't handle guns. I would love an M16 :D but as they can't it's better for them to be illegal.

It's their stupid obsession with freedom which is the problem. How about forget freedom and simply go with the law that makes things better. ie getting rid of guns.

...because we love guns and it's in the constitution that we have the right to bear arms....and it's a great right.

The why not have the guns locked up in a secure gun club at all times, then you can go whenever you want to shoot.

There is absolutely no reason to have a gun in your house.
If you want something to look at then a deactivated/non-functional weapon is fine to go on the mantle piece.

When you have armed people breaking into your house, who think nothing of shooting you because it's easier than holding you up, you need some form of defense. Unfortunately a gun is the best.

We are lucky in the UK that our criminals, in the grand scheme of things, are reasonably humane. Some parts of America don't have that luxury. Just before Christmas, a house 2 blocks from ours was broken into by two teenagers who shot a woman and her kids for some prescription medications and pocket change. In that situation you have no option but to fight fire with fire. I don't go to the range just to shoot for fun. I mainly go to practice so that I can operate our firearms quickly and safely in the event of a home invasion.

I like guns, but that doesn't mean I think it should be easily accessible.
In Jersey (not NJ) attempting to even have a license to own a .22 rifle is an amazing feat of red tape itself.

I wish we were allowed higher calibre/automatics, but with the limitation that it has to be kept at the club. I can deal with that, it caters to my want to do what I find fun and caters to the people who think people shouldn't have it easily accesible. This doesn't stop people sneaking it out however, amongst other things. It's tricky but I understand this is never going to change in my life time and I simply can't care enough to bother about it.

Although If I want to forfill my wants, I'd no doubt have to go state-side and even then, I'm not the kind of person who wants to do the tourist version of paying out of my behind and firing off a single magazine. I'd be doing this weekly if I lived there, ah well.

Why is it that news footage from America always looks like it was taken with a Sony camcorder from 1981, thats been smothered in vaseline? I can barely make out anything.

It's a conspiracy to hide the fact that lizard men are behind everything.

The parents should also be held accountable for the shooting, these shooting would never happened if there was no firearm in the household.

Most American have no common sense, they think the second amendment allow them to carry firearms. It was written during wartime, when the 13 colonies gained independent from Britain.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The right to carry arms and protect the country from foreign threats not a bloody home invasion.

This has been brought up in numerous supreme court cases, and they have ruled that it relates to individual useage as well. Meanings can mutate over time.

Don't you think it's possible that criminals take guns because they have to think it likely the homeowner of where they're breaking into will have a gun?

The problem is that this is the situation now that you have to deal with. It is unlikely that, if people stopped using guns for home defence, the criminals would stop carrying guns. They already have the guns and they would give them a large advantage. Obviously it would have been better if it had never gotten to that stage, but it has so you have to deal with the reality of the situation.

It's the computer games man!!!!!!

Yet I've made it quarter of a century while playing games growing up and not killed anyone yet :p

Yet -_-

I'd rather be shot to death in the US than brutally stabbed and bleed to death which is what happens in this country.

Guns are fun. Saying they shouldn't be legal is a pretty pointless argument. The majority of shootings that happen are done with unregistered (or not registered to the shooter) guns.

Like numerous documentaries have said it is easier in the UK (or London at least) to get a gun on the streets than it is to get through all the red tape to get a gun legally here in the UK.

The simple solution to gun ownership isn't the control of the firearm it's the control of the amunition, it would work particularly well in a country with laws like the UK. I have no problem with someone storing a gun in their house they are harmless it should however be illegal to store amunition for said gun in your own home (Farmers and other essential users excluded). Then we could all own 9mm pistols we just couldn't kill anyone with them, not sure what the solution in the US is the gun laws are frankly ridiculous but until someone finds a way round the seond amendment rubish and the power of the NRA it simply won't happen.
