Facebook May Have Read Your Phone’s Text Messages.

So wait, you are saying that ios does not have the same problem? How are you so certain?

The nature of iOS makes it difficult for one app to interact with another.

Having said that, I'm not entirely sure if this would be possible or not.

I don't find this at all surprising though.

'Journalist' in not technically knowledgeable on what he/she is reporting on which ultimately leads to people reading the article and believing it SHOCKER.

Oh no! They know that I love my wife!!! And that my son has a doctors appointment next week.

aaannnnddd......... so what.

Just like this whole Facebook Timeline issue in the news this morning. One of the interviewees said "There are some pics from when I was 17 that I dont want people to see!!!" Easy 1 - REMOVE THEM or 2 - Don't be friends with people if you dont want them to see pictures of you when you are 17.

I find the FAcebook app on Android pretty poor as is, and tried this bad boy out: Tinfoil Hat. Faster and more reliable than the app (for me), with the added bonus of sandboxing Facebook.

Still no widget that I like/works :(

I don't mind if FB read my messages, they'll be impressed by the mass of 10/10 females with non-pointy elbows who I'm chatting too.

If people are concerned Facebook MAY be breaching privacy laws then they can simply not use Facebook.

It's as simple as that.

thats true, but downloading an app doesnt give them the right to invade your privacy, and they should be held accoutable for doing so in a court of law.

I disabled my facebook account nearly 2 years ago, and dont miss it at all.

It specifically tells you that it has access to your messages though.
I figured it was worth the invasion of privacy, is Facebook are interested in what i want for dinner or when my rent is due, fair play...

^ Jay974, you need a jailbroken iPhone in order to run third party SMS apps such as bitesms.

If you're phone is not jailbroken then you have to use the stock SMS app. This also means that no apps in the app store have access to your SMS messages. Weather you see this as a drawback or a benefit is a matter of opinion, but I actually like the fact that I don't have to worry about 3rd party apps accessing my SMS messages :)
So you cant back your SMS up then?
You can with iTunes I think, or if you're jailbroken that you can use something like iFile to backup the file containing SMS' if you don't want to do a complete backup
