Silent Hill Downpour

Did a search for this but didn't find anything.

So the 8th game in the Silent Hill series is due on the 16th March 2012, and I didn't even know anything about this game until now, it looks rather good to be fair, and never having played a Silent Hill game before

o) I will be picking this one up. Looks like a very good game that will have plenty of scares in it.

So anyone else looking forward to this?

Play 1 and 2 while you wait if you can. They're a bit dated but very good.

How can people say theyve never heard of this until now. Its been a known game for about 2 years. It was supposed to be released last year but due to poor reception by journalists it was delayed to work on the gameplay and other issues ie it was rubbish so Im not holding out for this one to be honest. The gameplay footage I saw last year was horrendous so no wonder it was delayed. The new footage looks OK but I do feel that they need to go back to the drawing board for Silent Hill. Theyve never been as good as the origionals were

Simply because I have not followed the Silent Hill much, and I have never heard of this game.

It is not that far fetched.

I found out about it when I was searching for the Silent Hill HD pack after reading the thread on here

From what I can tell after reading the interview with one of the guys it appears they are trying to go back to the roots of the first 2 Silent Hill games and am loving the fact that you are only able to carry a very limited number of weapons (one melee and one firearm it seems).

Hopefully it won't disappoint

I really want to like the Silent Hill games and I'm a big fan of the genre but the combat system in these frustrate the **** out of me! So clunky and slow, hate it.

It's out in the states, and cos of that, I was expecting to see my copy this week. But turns out its been delayed til the 30th here! Whats that all about?

Don't care, I still want this game, and it's delayed a few weeks.

Might source out a PS3 US copy, being region free and all.

I think the fact that Silent Hill 2 is so good means it's unfair to compare this new American game to it since of course it's going to suck in that respect.

I'll probably be giving this a go but I'm not holding my breath. Homecoming was pretty much Michael Bay's version of Silent Hill and I really don't want that disappointment again. [There better not be a Pyramid Head cameo in this game!]

I didn't like the second one.
I can't pin point why, I just found the first one really good back in the day then the 2nd one just didn't do anything for me

1 & 2 where fantastic, 3 was ok, don't remember playing 4 and homecoming was pretty good. I think Downpour looks good, but some reviews aren't so keen on it.

Shame Silent Hill 1 isn't in the HD collection... assume it's the same reason MGS1 wasn't in the Metal Gear Solid HD collection?

Hmmmm, IGN give it 4.5/10 and Gamespot give it 7.5/10.

I have a feeling it could be one of those hit and miss games, a bit of a marmite encounter. I am still seriously considering it and popping it on my birthday wishlist, will have to take a look at a few more reviews first though I feel.
