Just wondered what people did to meet new people.
Me and my wife split a few months back, and well, it suddenly dawned on me then, that we moved away from all my family and friends, and well I don't really have a social life.
Do people join clubs and things, because I would feel uncomfortable attending something on my own.

Well, to be honest i have never met anyone off a forum/game etc but it happens, a lot too. was just a suggestion really, plus it seems to be getting more popular.

Couldn't resist.

Post-university this is considerably harder, the only people I've met recently are either work colleagues (meh) and friends of friends that don't live in the same City. I'm dying for a house party!

Well, do you have any hobbies? :)

not really as such. I like computers lol
I used to play football, but far too old and lazy for that now. I don't drink, so pubs/clubs don't really appeal to me either.
I work at a small company, with people I can barely stand during work hours, let alone outside.

Get some cardboard cut-outs. away you go :D

it is pretty hard to meet new people though, at least for me. maybe my 1 shower a year rule is affecting this. :(

yeh, school/college was great, but since then, well it seems to be less easy.

Call some old mates you used to have fun with ask them.to go for a lads night out and it'll get back to normal.. :-)

I have the same problem, went to uni in a far away place, moved home to where my mum now lives, knew no one so lived with a mate for a bit back around where I grew up. Knew only slightly more people there so moved back to mums and went back to uni.

Hasn't improved much so I spend most my time on the internet :D

Apparently having hobbies and a job helps you meet new people. Not having much first hand experience here from me means I'm not the most reliable source.

Join a gym
Do evening classes
Join clubs

I don't really know how anyone meets anyone in a gym that isn't merely a gym friend. All I do is talk about technique / injury / my massive guns, it's a bit gay to go 'hurrrr yeah, sweet reps you did it! uhh.... so... what you doing on Saturday?'

If only I could stop licking my lips when I say this.
