Open University - Who's doing it?

Actually doing my application as we speak - still unsure what to do which doesnt help! Its a shame I cant do engineering but I guess more practical/technical degrees are harder to do well self-studying...

Jack of all trades, master of none comes to mind...

I completed m150 in october, which was a brilliant opening course, really enjoyed it. Im doing M255 Object-oriented programming with Java and T211 Design and designing in feb. Hopefully im going down the right track to obtain my degree in computing and design, because it all gets highly confusing, or seems to a least.

2 TMA's done so far in BU130. I ended up postponing B121 as it just wasn't going to happens with the time I have available !!

Scoring quite nicely all things considered :)

I've recently finished with the OU. Got my final results last month, I'm getting a 2.2 BSc Information and Communication Technologies. Just waiting for march to come around as thats when my degree ceremony is.

The OU was the only option for me, as I have no GCSEs or A-levels so my only option to get a degree was with the OU and I have to say it has worked out great.

I'm not sure how it compares to a brick university, but my only real issue is that I ended up doing badly on a couple courses because I had no interest in them at all, they were just a requirement for the degree I was aiming for.

If I could get financial support for a MSc in advanced networking (basicaly 4 CCNP courses and I think a project or something) I would instantly go for it. But right now there seems to be no way to get sufficient funding for a MSc for me to consider it at the OU or anywhere else right now.

So, how's everyone doing so far? :)

I got a little bit behind with my first TMA, but I have one question left to finish tonight and then I can submit it. Should allow me to get back on track if I start on the next unit immediately. One thing I wasn't expecting was just how much I had forgotten! Writing the solutions to questions with full sentences to explain is not something I've done for a while, but overall I am enjoying this module. :D

Not really sure what to do next, though. I like it so I'm considering maybe going in to full-time education, though that looks like it might require an Access to HE course or something. I can worry about that a little bit later, though.

Hello OU students! I work for the OU in one of the academic support teams (basically I help people choose modules/degrees plus a bunch of other stuff) so if anyones got any questions let me know :)

Well, I'm currently about to start my EMA on B120 and I've just submitted TMA01 for B201.
B201 unfortunately ends with an exam, but as it was a compulsory unit for the BA Business Studies it was one I had to get out of the way.

I'm constantly finding myself a little bit behind - well I do work and SWTOR hasn't helped :)
However I find I can sit down for 2hrs at work (work are sponsoring me, so I can work on it during working hours) and in that time read 4-5hrs "worth" of the course material.

So all going well. I'll start my second Level 2 at the end of this year and then it's onto the final 120 points at Level 3.

Stoofa,

How have you found B120 for work? What did you end up having to do?

I've got 2 more assessments due for BU130 (TMA03 for a week today and EMA at the beginning of April).

Just curious how you've got on with this as thats what I'm due to start next !

I'm doing alright so far - I am four modules in, with two to go before I attain my degree. I am finding it hard work but rewarding, especially when I pass a TMA. I'm not very good at the exams that is my downfall. I've got one in October :(

I started in 2006 with DD100 An introduction to the social sciences then moved onto T172 working for a sustainable future. I then dropped out of my courses after due to work and moving house and life things.
I have now enrolled to start 3 10 point mini courses T155 Linux an introduction, TM190 The story of maths and S177 Galaxies, Stars and Planets.
I am not sure what I am going to study in October maybe Maths or back to Social science subjects.

Starting in May myself on an Open degree, hopefully going to cover Maths, Comp Sci, Chinese and Design courses. Got this month to get a better idea - will ring my advisor next week...

Has anyone here been to the barbican in London? My degree ceremony is there on the 31st and I'm wondering what to expect, there isn't much in the way of pictures that I've found of where I'll be so I don't know how big it will be in terms of size of venue and number of people.

Studying towards a BSc Mathematics.

Absolutely love it, originally planned on doing the Maths and Stats degree until I met Calculus and fell in love with it, doing as much pure maths as I can now.
