2012 Weight Loss Thread

Need to lose some weigh which I have put on since joining uni (2009), and gradually increasing.

I am at about 13.5 stone now and am 5ft 6/7.

Diet at the moment is:-
Breakfast (after gym): Banana
Snack: Low fat yoghurt
Lunch: Marmite Sandwhich (1 slice of bread).
Snack: Marmite Sandwhich (1 slice of bread).
Dinner: pasta with tomato sauce/rice with chicken/tinned soup.

Not sure if I have lost any weight yet as I am going to leave it a couple of weeks to weigh myself, been going out on bike rides after work too (rather then just sitting around on PC all night.

Hey no offense but that diet needs major work, you won't be hitting your macros for staters. I also see little fibre and by far not enough protein in that diet. Judging roughly that's 1200 cals which is far too low.

Losing weight every week at the mo. Approx quarter to three quarter pounds on average. Gone from 15st 10Lbs to 14st 6Lbs just buy cutting down on portion sizes, no eating after 6:30pm and cutting down wine consumption. No exercises.

I started my diet a month ago, with the goal of getting leaner and fitter for football, and for the obvious health reasons.

I am 6 foot tall, and started off at a whopping 15 stone 6, and at the 1 month stage I have managed to get this down to 14 stone 9. My overall goal is 12 stone 5. It is amazing what increased cardio and a 1500 daily calorie limit does!

been off work so not looking forward to checking my weight as the beer has been flowing well :<
is eating fruit (oranges and Bananas) better than having a sandwidge as a replacement meal?

Week started off really well with a 2 hour cardio session last saturday, an hour long one on Tuesday, and then hit the skids completely with work basically bending me over. Ended up eating bucket loads of processed fast food crap for the rest of the week, didn't get home in time to workout either.

Got on the scales, 2lb loss which isnt a bad result, could have been so much more though.

Thats 21lb so far, in 5 weeks I think - hoping to drop down to 17 stone for a weekend away in June, another 23lb to go.

Week 8 Weigh in:

Starting weight beginning of January 14st 6lb
Target weight end of June 11st

Last Monday 13st
This Monday 12st 12lb

2lb lost

At last I'm under 13st, it's been years since I've been 12st something :D

Still continuing my running, 2.8 miles 3 times a week and also doing a 4 mile brisk walk every Sunday with the wife. My running times are getting steadily better each time.

Hopeing to start cycling to work soon (10 mile round trip) but I'll still carry on with my running maybe I'll enter the robin hood marathon next year!

Good luck fellow dieters!

Eighth week weigh in:

Last Sunday - 20st 10lb
This Sunday - 20st 8lb

2lb loss

Happy with that as I had 2 big meals on Sunday.

(Total loss since September '11 - 5st 5lb )

Getting ever closer to the elusive 19st area now.

Scales dont seem to be moving much at the moment, but my waist size is slowing going down. I've put it down to getting stuck in to Stronglifts and gaining back muscle. I may alter diet a bit more, but girlfriend is getting a treadmill soon, so will be stealing it for some HIIT :D

Hit 80kg (started at 93kg and I'm 5"10) and whilst I'm certainly not "toned" I feel much better. I've started the StrongLifts 5x5 program on Mon/Wed/Fri (iPhone app is awesome and free for anyone thinking about starting this) and on Tues/Thurs/Sat I do the 100 pushup app, I've gone from being able to do about 10 pushups in one go to over 30. As a bit of a geek, this sort of stuff really helps with motivation because you can see improvement in numbers and charts so even if your weight levels off you have some other positives to look at.

Each day I also do a 5km run and another 10-20 minutes of cardio, either cross-trainer or cycling. I can do that and still feel pretty good afterwards so fitness has definitely improved and my resting heart rate has dropped from mid-60's to mid-40's :)

My weight loss has slowed as expected but I've put on some muscle on my arms and I found some photos from a few months ago where I look very overweight so it's hugely motivating to see the improvement particularly in my face which now has some shape rather than just being round!

Aiming to get to about 75kg as that would give me a BMI of around 22-23 but more focused on keeping up the exercise and healthy eating as that should mean I look/feel better even if my weight stays level as I put on a bit of muscle.

Good luck to everyone else, some really impressive results in this thread and great to be part of it!

bad fortnight for me

last week was my holiday and drank more than i should have lol but saying that

two weeks ago weight in at 173.5
this week 173.5 so i must be doing something right this week with my new breakfast of an orange and a banana so if i keep it up next week i might see results

(holiday week i expected to gain as i did at new year but broke even after a fortnight)

i will say this if i kept up with the biking and stuff i wouldn't be like this :<

Agree with icecold, try adding porridge/cereal/toast in there, I did just fruit for breakfast for a week and it just made my feel very tired by about 10:30 once the initial sugar high dropped off. I tend to have a fruit porridge with some banana or strawberry chopped up on top and that keeps me going nicely until lunch.
