I was listening to radio 4 on the way into work and they were talking about peoples maths skills. They said there was somewhere online where there are 4 questions to see how your numeracy skills are?

Does anybody know where these are?

Thanks

Scary that such a high percentage of adults are reported to have terrible maths skills! I'm certainly no mathematician but didnt struggle with any.

The reason for poor maths isn't difficult to understand given the dominance of calculators and computers in everyday life.

Agreed. My year were the last year at exams when calculators were not allowed (in Maths).

A year or two later when I saw GCSE maths papers which did allow calculators and the questions were things like "465 divided by 15" did I then despair. We used to have to do all that in our heads or work it out on paper.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, this is what you get for letting pupils move to the next year even if they fail their current one.
