Which PS Vita did you buy WiFi only or WiFi & 3G ?

3G for the same reasons as DBT85 as already listed.

32GB Memory Card (bargain £47) because I'm going digital download only on my Vita.

I'm a little surprised at how many people are choosing to go with digital copies of their games.

Although digital only is inevitable in the long run, consoles are quite some way behind the way it's done on pc (which I'm happily onboard with).

Each to their own, but for the time being no way am I going to pay more for something with zero resale value just to save swapping a cart once in a while :p.

That's part of it, the prices accross the board are far more aggressive on pc than anything the consoles have come up with so far. There's also the fact that you essentially don't have a choice with pc games, even most retail games are effectively digital as they're tied to an account.

If given the choice, I might still prefer to buy pc games with some resale value, but the systems in place make me feel ok with not being able to do that.

There's one area that has made the digital model a success on pc and it's here that not one of the console license holders seem to have caught on to yet (Microsoft being the worst example of this). When you release a game, you don't simply have the two markets of everyone that thinks it's worth £40 and everyone that thinks it isn't. Each time you lower the barrier for entry you bring in a new wave of customers, a good example of this would be Kane and Lynch 2 for pc. Not a great game at all, £30 on release and within months it was £3.74 on a Steam sale. At this moment in time you simply don't see that from consoles, but why not? After you've already sold the vast majority of copies that you will get £30 for, what makes more sense, selling almost none at £30 a go, or selling many times more copies at £3.74 because you're now at a price that people will pay just to give it a go?

I'm sure we'll get there in the end, but right now it's pretty obvious the console holders see strategies like this as giving money away, when the reality is they're giving money away by not following the pc model a little closer. Until that happens, I'll be voting with my wallet and telling them it's not ok to charge me £10 more for something that I can buy a retail copy of.

3g... wipeout for a fiver means that you are only paying £25 for 3g. Ask ipad owners if they would prefer 3g for £25 more and they would bite your arm off.... they pay £100 more for the pleasure!!

I know what your saying but honestly with games like Wipeout I would never sell and I know they will give me years of enjoyment and as with steam it's just so much more convenient not having to swap over games and carry them round with you.

I made a pledge with myself that I will only buy games I am 100% certain I want and I'll never pay more than the retail price. On the other hand If games start coming out at App store prices like Motorstorm RC then I'll take a punt :D

About resale value, Just how much resale value is there in games any more with all this activation code nonsense and sequels coming thick and fast?

I honestly don't care about the few quid a game might be worth 6 months down the line I'm buying them for the entertainment value and nothing else.

Just a thought, Motorstorm RC is a sub £5 game and it's sold massively, Maybe Sony etc. will see this and we might just get near App store prices in the near future :)

Games you won't sell is one thing, but what about games you find you don't like? I sold Fifa within a couple days of getting it, because although it's a decent enough port, I didn't feel it translated especially well to a handheld. That's a game I'd be stuck with if I bought digital.

There are benefits to going digital, as I said I'm happy enough with Steam, but for the time being the pricing structure outweighs the benefits. With Steam you know if it releases at a price above what you think it's worth, it won't be too long before it hits a price you're ok with paying. When that happens with console game as well I'll probably be more inclined by digital copies of games.

True, I bought it with the console though. It was an impulse purchase more than anything, sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. That's not a chance I'd be able to take with digital copies of games that have no demo.

Well you see that's just it, I'll never make impulse digital download buys. For example I thought I wanted Unit 13, I played the demo and thought it was OK but not good enough to buy as a download. I'm now waiting for Resistance and again I'll play the demo first if available or read user reviews etc. and won't just rush in to it.

There really is no reason to end up with a game you won't like if you don't buy on impulse. I think those of us that have chosen to go down the digital route will be far more cautious than those that haven't ;)

I'm sure you won't go too far wrong, although I wouldn't be happy sticking only to games that I'm all but certain I'll enjoy. Throughout all forms of entertainment it often pays off well to take a chance. Not everytime obviously, sometimes things look **** and infact are ****, but it happens enough to be worth taking those risks.

In a way you have the best of both, stick to digital for the games you're sure of, and for anything you do feel could be a risk you always have the option of renting or going retail. For me I'll just buy retail until I either don't have the choice or the prices are attractive enough.

3G ALL THE WAY + 16GB (16gb has the best write/read speed) i have no idea what read/write speed is on the 32gb card
