*** The Official HTC EVO 3D Thread! ***

You read customer reviews? Don't bother. :p

lol.. I know.. but I read them for the entertainment :D Like when people say they have upgraded from an old brick phone to this, and think it's the most awesome phone ever invented etc...

I enjoy reading the trash reviews as well, as people de-rate the phone, for a faulty one turning up and then rather than getting a replacment.. just say it's ****.

I was in town today getting a birthday card and gift, and thought I'd pop into a phone shop or two to try and find the evo.

Two things... DAMN.. that Samsung Note is friggin' HUGE! Second, I'm surprised that the Evo's screen was exactly the same width as my O2X, but a little taller. I really though it would have been wider.

I think my O2X is better looking to be honest, but the phone certainly wasn't as heavy as I was expecting.

I find the weight fine, I've been messing around with mine now for a few days, getting a whole day of use out of it, and seems to be quiet good at the lower end of the battery, where my original desire was dropping from 15% to dead.

The screen is fantastic, i even think on par with the sensation XL. But one thing i've noticed is some colours are not as vibrant as the XL.

Been toying around with the 3D, and even thought thats not why i bought the phone its a nice thing to have. First time i tried it i couldnt see any 3D just a distorted image, took my eyes a while to adjust. My Desire and Desire S was only 5mp too, so i cant really see a difference in the 2 phones.

The phone itself is very fast, installing apps and browsing at the same time is no problem, and not having to worry about A2SD is great, no low memory messages anymore.

Overall i think value for money is where this phone is at. I paid £450 for the sensation XL on release from CPW, and was tempted a few weeks ago to drop the same money on a note, but im glad i didnt. £230 for this is an absolute steal, and hopefully ICS does come, but i can see it being left behind. Ahh well XDA will always pull through.

Depending how things go now until the One X arrives, this could be my stepping stone phone, or a permanent replacement. I sold the Desire S yesterday for £150 which was probably quite low as it was only 3 weeks old, but ahh well, pretty much got the 3D for £80 :D

lol Mr Paul, is this your review on ASDA?

Had to return my first phone due to a dead pixel, just got the replacement and guess what... a lit stuck pixel this time!
Third time lucky or refund....?

Could someone please explain the screen protectors? I've had a desire for almost two years, gorilla glass etc and it doesn't have a single scratch on it?

The Evo 3D doesn't have Gorilla glass. So best to play it safe.

I'm paranoid about my screen, and I'd rather have better resale value than something that was worth less due to a scratched screen (because it 'can' happen no matter how careful you are). Screen protectors also give you the chance to put anti glare, anti-smudge etc on it.

You don't really need a screen protector unless you have a habit of putting your phone into a pocket with keys, or generally being a bit careless with it.

They do tend to affect the screen quality a little bit and given the nature of the device (3D) it may affect the 3D effect.

Gorilla glass is more shatter proof than scratch proof, it will scratch almost as easily as normal glass. It's more down to luck than anything.
