Six more dead UK soldiers

Yes it is awful. However if the cause of the explosion was an soviet-era anti tank mine there is nothing that could be done, there is no amount of money that can be spent on kit etc to have protected them from that.

If it was an I.E.D then that could represent a serious increase in the capability of the Taliban, but my money is on an anti tank mine.

Whilst any loss of life is sad, these men were soldiers and knew the risks when they signed up.

It's time for us to accept that we will not achieve our objective (whatever they are) in Afghanistan and remove our soldiers.

Mission failed, come home. Don't sacrifice more men in order to try and save face and pretend we succeeded in the mission.

I thought they were only missing, some reports said they were missing.

I should imagine that if they did indeed run over a soviet era anti tank mine in a warrior, there wouldn't be a great deal left in the terms of human remains, hence missing presumed dead ( as its being reported on BBC news ).

Our 'objective' is to train the locals so that they can look after their own land. We're succeeding tyvm.

Your post is retarded.

They had only been in the country for a month aswell, and if it was IED, thats gotta be scary for the British and US troops for it to take out a Warrior, but as everyone says its probably a mine.

senior army officials are saying quite the opposite and what a success it has been with a view to us being out by 2015.

404 soldiers dead since 2001, so it's anyone's guess what it will be by 2015. awful thought.

Fighting some of our enemies at the end of the street whilst leaving the door wide open is not making our home any safer.

Hah. The Afghan Army is a success? What World are you living on. It's rife with corruption, inefficiency and is manned by people who barely have a grasp of their language.

It's a total joke. Giving a rabble of men guns does not mean that they can protect their land. How large is the force that are able to complete operations indepedent of foreign help?

Your views are retarded.

Australia are beginning to come round to accepting that they've failed. America have all but said it, it's about time that we do as well and stop pretending we're some great power and World fixer. We can get things wrong, we can fail, and we have. Accept it, learn from it and move on.

Very sad and RIP

However people who join the forces must know there is chance that this may happen and others that know if they serve their time they may come out and find it difficult finding another job.

I dont see why people who come out of the forces expect to walk straight back into a 30k job, or people that get injured physically or mentally expect compensation. Its like someone working in a noisy environment then claiming compo for loss of hearing

This has to be the most ignorant thing I have read in a good while.

I take you have at least met these people you're grossly generalising?

As someone who spent six months in Afghanistan helping train this 'rabble of men' I find what you're saying both ungrateful and offensive.

I'll also point out that on a number of occasions, the Afghan police helped save mine and my colleagues lives.

RIP to all those :(

I really do hope the ANA take things seriously after what we have given them over the past 10 or 11 years.

I have watched documentaries, and although I agree they are not as well rounded as the British troops, sometimes I think they don't get how important the skills they are currently being taught by our troops.

But then again like people have said, we can't get really go all guns blazing like they train our soldiers up as in the end they the ANA will just get fed up and refuse to operate at all.

And unfortunately the war against the Taliban and the IED's is another thing.
