**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

I'll be getting the Lumia 800 in Magenta I won on monday, can't wait!

Only playing with it for a few days until I give it to my mum. I'll be sticking with my Omnia 7 until Apollo, it'll be interesting to see how the screens compare on the two devices.

Mine came up today (on Orange) saying an update is available so I let it do it's thing in Zune and it still has the same firmware number? 8106.11500..

What's wrong with using Apple products if they do exactly what you want?

I don't get this either. I got rid of my iPhone to get the Lumia 800, but my iPad 2 is staying put. I have the best of both worlds, IMO.

I don't see peoples obsession with having one brand, or not having another - Just use what you like the most. There is me though, I'm a whore and can't decide! :o

Just updated to the .12070 firmware and so far battery life has been massively improved, so has the audio quality.

I used the cab method to update. :)

There's 2 updates. OS version 8107.79 and Firmware revision 8106.11500.

You probably had the OS update.

People like to think they are on an imaginary high horse by 'avoiding' Apple, because Apple are so evil, right?! Right?! :p

It's not like they make fantastic products (if they do what you want) or anything. No sir.

Don't people have a choice? :p

People have the choice to make any decision they like, but to come out with "At least I don't own anything made by Apple" is just pathetic. I just wish people would stop with the pathetic brand "snobbery". If Apple were the only company in the world that made mobile phones, I actually believe some people would rather go without having a phone.

I don't normally bother with cases and I won't be changing for this handset, I have 2 and they both get chucked around and they're both (including the screen, which I normally put a screen protector on but again not this time) spotless!

Very hard wearing handsets!

I'd be careful with that, mine got a dent on the first day and I can't imagine it'd be cheap to fix. Kept it it in the case since then.

I agree :)

I dont know where my obsession against apple come from, maybe back in the MP3 days when i couldnt have a MP3 player from creative and just put all my MP3s on it and with a Nano or ipod i had to do it apples way or screw you MR dont buy my products.

I cant really be that anti apple, i have an IPad, Ipad2 and the wifes just got an Iphone but i dont use them.

If i want to surf the net i put my monitor on my PC, if i want to watch a film i put it on my tele, if i want to watch the tele i switch that on followed by my sky box. If i want to game i again put my PC on.

My WP keeps me occupied when i am on any journey and has a decent web browser but for the amount of surfing i do on the go, add scores to a Ice Hockey Website i could do that quite well with my Nokia X6 ;)

Apple pffft give me something i can configure to my own liking then something i cant

I'm weak... the frustrations with slow web browsing, the total lack of decent cheap games and apps and the final straw being the flakiness of the twitter app and I just went and got myself another 4S :(

Hate to say all this because I have liked the 800 and I've still got one for work but for all the social stuff like twitter and texting and games the iphone is just better IMO.

Stupid question i'm sure... but are you using the same sim card/contract? Never heard of the slow OS browser but have heard of T-Mobile throttling data...:p

The problem is most Apple products look exactly the same. iOS for example is on two different looking devices, that's it. Nothing like being the same as everyone else when you confuse your phone with the person next to you... At least Android and WP have multiple designs and styles. All IMO of course.:)

I'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion, the icon layout and wallpapers will be fairly different on most peoples devices I imagine. It's certainly no more or less customisable than Windows Phone.

Unless you're talking about the hardware?

Bingo.:)

I can't say that's ever been something that has bothered me in the slightest. They offer the iPhone and iPad in 2 colours, black and white. The same as Samsung with the Galaxy S II and Google with the Galaxy Nexus. Apple even have bumpers so you can adjust the look of the phone quite significantly if you so wish.

Nokia tend to have more colours but I can't ever say I've considered that a significant selling point.

I ordered a Nokia Lumia 710 the otherday and seeing as the 800 has the same spec how do you find it copes with a lot going on?

It will be fine, Windows Phone rarely (if ever) slows down.

The problem is Apple only sell one (well 2 designs in reality) phone. Android (your example) runs on many. Far more options on design, colour, size and specification. Same with Windows Phone.

I know this forum is obsessed with specifications but in the real world it's not that clear cut.
