**NVIDIA PRICE DROP - GTX 580@£299, GTX570@£239.99 & GTX560Ti(448)@£199!!**

Put me in another tight spot .. buy it now at £340 and hope the 680 is out of my price range or wait and hope the 680 is in my price range.

Buy what now for £340? a 580?

Just wait, man. AMD will respond and the 7950 is the card that has to drop.

Once the 7950 reaches £300 it puts the 580 in a very uncomfortable position.

Too much money mate. £10 less than a 7950. Infact, there was a 7950 kicking around at £335 a while ago.

It's not a good time to buy anything at the high end, it really isn't. Give it a month. By that time the drops would have all occurred and you can make a much better purchase with your hard earned beans.

Same price better card. But honestly, that is all set to change mate. It would be crazy to buy now.

Both think the price would drop even further with this recent price cut? I want to order a new card buy the end of this month ideally. Originally said a EVGA 580 for ~£300 would suit me .. but since i've never bought one before i'll listen to your advice and wait bit longer :)

When Kepler releases all hell is going to break loose.

I bought my card in January, Kepler was nowhere to be seen. No information, no launch dates, nothing.

Now though? it's a foregone conclusion.

that's still too expensive, i'm after 3 GB at that price, in june time that is !

lets hope that this drops the price of everything, if not i'll get mine from EBAY HONG KONG !!!

Nvidia's memory is far more expensive than ATI's. Well, AMD's, but you know what I mean.

I'm pretty sure it all came about when ATI/AMD pretty much gave up on the workstation Fire GL side of things to concentrate on the desktop. Workstation cards cost far more as they need to be far more stable with more reliable memory. Nvidia are still very much involved in the workstation/server/crunching side of things with Tesla and what used to be Quadro.

It's no surprise that a lot of Nvidia's desktop cards are simply rebranded server parts. See also - Intel's Extreme CPUs. They're merely rebranded Xeons.

Ok, just to iterate Stulids post above, please keep this and all threads on topic.

If I have to remove such remove such rubbish again then further infractions or suspensions will be handed to any offenders..

Prices are still stupid high though. They are old and are selling the 3gb GTX 580 for £450. The 7950 is over £100 less and is better. Even the the cheapest OCuk GTX 580 you might aswell well spend £50 more a much better 7950.
