Nokia N9

got the 800 now and its incredibly polished but (and this might change with experience) I think I prefer the N9.

Although I see what you mean about the apps, a few weeks in and I feel like I've explored most of what the N9 has in terms of tweaks etc that are relevant to me.

I'm still umming and arring over pressing the buy button.

Are there any telnet clients available for it? Can you get Google Talk (or at least a messenger client that works with it) on Meego?

Is there any real need to go for the 64GB version over the 16GB?

Google talk, Skype, Facebook chat, yahoo etc are all baked in. That's the beauty of the n9 it's integration.
With the 16gb version you only get about 8.5 gb free for your own content... I can live with it as an extra £70 isn't worth it for me.

I've just come across these in my local electronics shop in Norway, in black, blue and red/pink.

One word - beautiful. What an absolutely fantastic design. I love it.

They're selling them here SIM-free for about £450~ as well or £590 over a 12 month contract. I'm very tempted.

hows the battery on n9 ?
how would you describe differences between lumia ?
is meegoo going to be supported ?

Usually have to charge mine every other day, with my daily usage is mainly browsing, texting, and listening to music . Engadet mentioned they got 8+ hours on a video loop and were suitable impressed with the battery life.
Spec wise the N9 comes out the winner . Unfortunately though I think it's confirmed Nokia have moved on from Meego , and aside from some further updates nothing else is planned.

someone was arguing with me that it lasts him 17days lol - i said maybe it does when you live with antenna in the house or dont touch the phone at all

have you guys had the update? Mine seems to be stubbornly stuck refusing to update, what software do you need to force it?

I've moved over to my Lumia 800 and to be honest I think I prefer it.

Not to take anything away from the N9 though, I would have been perfectly happy if I hadn't had the 800 and I much prefer the cyan I had on the N9 to the black 800.

Hope there's some development takes place, the ecosystem did seem a bit quiet, it could do with a better browser and some other bits and pieces.

I find the 800 is the lush hardware with, unfortunately, better software.

Nokia N9 shown running Ice Cream Sandwich

Our love affair with the Nokia N9's Harmattan UI may soon be coming to an end, thanks to a pretty massive upgrade being cooked up for the 3.9-inch smartphone by the developer community: Android 4.0! Alexey Roslyakov, part of the NITDroid team that has concerned itself with porting Android to the N900 previously and the N9 presently, has tweeted the image above, accompanied by the enigmatic title of "progress."

The project to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the N9 is clearly advancing, therefore, and we couldn't be any more excited to see the fruit that it bears. It doesn't yet look terribly close to completion, though there's no doubt that the effort will be worth it. Among all the phones that could do with an OS upgrade out there, the N9 is perhaps the prettiest, and as a bonus, it already lacks any physical or capacitive front buttons, making it a perfect match for ICS.

Oh, and don't despair if you still like MeeGo, Alexey has also noted that he's working to create a dual-boot setup, allowing you to alternate between Harmattan and ICS to your heart's content. PR 1.2 Update incoming! Getting better and better - why didnt they slap the 41Mp camera on a Maemo phone!?

And now, firefox and full flash. That means iplayer and bbc news works perfectly now (with all video content).

Anyone else still got theirs?
