New Build - Your comments

OK I have my case and PSU and trying to figure out whether the Seasonic is meant to be fan topside or bottom to pull air in through the vent on the bottom of this case

If the case is on carpet, have the fan facing into the case, wont be sucking up dust, carpet pile etc.

If it is on a hard surface that doesn't collect hair or dust to much then facing it down will be best, if it is going on carpet or an area that gets hairy and dusty face it into the case.

Nothing like building a new machine :)

Still some work to do on the cables (extensions required for full neatness) and perhaps another Typhoon fan or 2...

Had some problems with the RAM - the Sabertooth RAM LED kept lighting up and the system would sit in a hung state. Let the MemOK! thing run through and it appears to have sorted it.

Not sure whether this means the RAM is faulty or config? My old machine is 6 years old so things have changed a little ;)

Hopefully will have some up soon - the one thing I forgot to get in my excitement was the big ass hard drive to dump stuff on... also ended up with a different set of SSDs coz I wasn't paying attention to my basket as I had been adding and removing but hey its built now :)

The next big plan is to get everything off the countless hard drives I have onto the new big one then decide on my backup strategy. Exciting times

Not sure what you guys normally do for pics -

The cabling still requires some work and there are still cables to sleeve but I didn't have everything I needed so only some got done.

The 12pin atx lead is a bit of a pain as it wasn't long enough to route round the back but at some point I will get an extension for it.

Need to spend some time working out fan speeds etc so I can get a reasonable level of performance/noise.

Yay ! Nice one ... pic chores. Time to criticise :D

First observation : Why did you touch up the the CPU ? Kit is sexy NOT that sexy. :)

No seriously, very nice and thanks

BTW ... Please don't lay your components on the carpet again :(

Haha its a magic carpet ;)

As for the CPU I assume you mean the cleaning with IPA? It had grubby fingerprint marks all over it which means oils and gunk that doesn't need to be there. Highly unlikely to result in any performance loss on the TIM but I always clean up any components before installing.

The GPU is the one out my other case and though very clean I still blasted it with compressed air to make sure every spec of dust was gone.
