Hey there, I'm doing a PC build for a friend, and with me being at work, and his bank taking like 3 days for a BT, I figured I'd ask.

Is it possible for a person to walk into my bank branch (In this case Halifax at Redcar) and deposit directly into my account if he's got the money in hand?

Assuming he has my sort code, account name and number.

Cheers.

I don't think they're too worried about people putting money into accounts, it's taking it out that is more likely to be dodgy..

His bank isn't legally allowed to take 3 days to do a bank transfer any more, any bank transfers within the UK, or SEPA euro transfers must be in the receiving bank by the end of the next working day - usually they are instant.

Of course....

Unless....for example.

a.) The money is in coppers/coin bags - in which case a lot of banks will not take more than £5 - or a specified amount of change.

b.) The money is in bags which aren't produced by the bank.

c.) It's a very large deposit which may require them to answer some questions ( as in a suitcase full of £10's ) ;)

Also check, double check and then check again that he has the right numbers as some banks are really strict about giving out any information. If he says could you just confirm its "somebody's" account some will confirm and some won't.
