Hi all, Im found a house which I like BUT it is about 50ft away from power lines :(( allways somthing ), I've had a google of this but the research seems inconclusive, I personally dont think there is a health risk living close to them what bothers me more is if I wanted to resell at a later date, so my question is would you buy a house or even rent close to power lines ?

No thanks, don't particularly want cancer. On a serious note it wouldn't bother me, if however it was a telephone mast then I definitely wouldn't.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I understand electric/magnetic fields just fine, but I don't get why this is classed as a health hazard.

I can't say I suffer from power line hypersensitivity or whatever. But my tin foil hat that stops people stealing my thoughts might keep me safe.

Would I want want live next to some, though? Never.

I always thought electricity in power lines was perfectly safe as long as you don't touch it, it isn't like radio waves. They can sometimes make a buzzing noise which can be annoying.

It's one of those things where the rational part of me goes "lolwut?" but the irrational part goes "hmmm." :o

dont power lines make a constant buzzing noise. also dont they interfere with wifi and mobile signal.

No (unless it is raining heavily) Never get wifi or mobile interference and i live about the same distance away from lines, and a mast...

@OP, if you do decide that you want the property see if the previous, or any other owners have had a settlement from the power company - they pay for the air space above your property if lines go over it could net you a few £k's

Mast = cancer

Of course it does. :rolleyes:

no wonder you read the dailyfai loll. also i have never seen a mast like that anywhere near a built up area was it there before people bought homes? LOL. ah well keep reading those facts!

I was looking into this when i property i wanted suffered from close power lines, i found something about increased depression and suicide rates!

House sale didn't go through due to some numpty offering over asking price, i bet they are not laughing now as it was at the height of the boom :D

I was taking the **** lol, if I believed the daily mail I wouldn't use a mobile, a microwave, wouldn't eat 50% of foods and would live underground in a concrete reinforced bunker surrounded with tinfoil for good measure.
