Spec Me a Fridge Freezer

just got a baumatic 50/50 integrated, they do freestanding, all my kitchen kit is baumatic and so far so good and reasonably priced

Like all premium brand manufactures they have ranges that cater for the lower end of the market, they use either cheaper labour or cheaper components or both in some cases.

You just need to be aware that some Bosch kit is made in Poland.

In a quick look on the Bosch site I couldn't find the country of manufacture:

The product seems to get quite good reviews.

The only way you can tell is by the looking at the box or the the sticker inside the fridge.

Don't let it being built in Poland put you off, just be aware that for the price you are looking at paying it is what it is.

When I look at Baumatic.com, I am not encouraged by the look of the website. Also, the nationality of the parent company is not clear to me, so I don't know where in the world they're from.

They are an Italian company IIRC, that doesn't necessarily mean the appliances are built in Italy though.

I got a Bush one last October for £180. 50/50 and a decent size. Been switched on 24/7 ever since with no problems.

Why spend more! (unless you want bigger)

Do Polish built Bosch have build quality issues? If it were built in Poland, I would hope that the Germans would still check the build quality.

Rgds

Has someone with VAST experience of this and lab testing both Italian & Polish built appliances I can confirm that both are awful with Poland being worse.
However, and this is only a hunch, I would have thought the Germans would still keep a close eye on quality where the Italians wouldn't give a stuff.
I would still go for a Polish built Bosch.

Does anyone have any idea if it's worth paying more to go from an A+ energy rating to an A++ rating? i.e. how big a difference in bills in will make.

Thanks

Samsung, look So smart if you get the grey/ black ones, good features and very reliable, good freezer in it also, with lcd display to turn down/up temp. These come in the a++ model i think, or atleast a+ anyway. so they are super eco! :D

It's a shame Miele don't do fridge freezers ;)

they arent that good. we have a good pet friendly vacuum but at last company all the expensive miele stuff got replaced as it didnt last long. the dishwasher even caught fire!

we got a big Daewoo US style FF with ice and cold water dispenser. crushed ice in drinks is pretty cool - it will get hammered in the summer! :)

if you look on which website (you can get a month for £1 which i did when i bought new kitchen stuff) its all nonsense. some A are better than AA and some AA are better than AAA. very confusing.

I don't 'get' the American-style double door side-by-side jobbies. They're huge and look impressive, but they appear to be a very skinny fridge and a very skinny freezer, quite often with masses of space lost to drink/ice dispensers.

Is this true or am I being fooled by lack of perspective and these things are actually huuuuuge and therefore usable?

My inlaws have a massive American style fridge and there is so little space it's crazy!

We ditched our 70/30 and went for a standalone Hotpoint fridge which is just fantastic - some people are snobby with their brands but all my appliances are Hotpoint and really rate them, plus our local service agent is very good which helps.

Why did you need a service agent? ;)
