Supposedly the difference between the GTX680 and HD7970 is similar to the difference between the GTX580 and the HD6970:

The TDP is meant to be between the HD6950 and HD6970. Power consumption and TDP of the GTX680 might end up being similar to an HD7950 3GB. Considering the HD7950 3GB has a more complex PCB and more VRAM,I wonder how close the TDP and power consumption of the GPUs(not the full cards) are though??

GTX680 is looking like 15-20% faster than GTX580 then. AMD will have to drop prices when the high end Nvidia GTX drops in a few months for sure it means happy times for anyone looking for a decent GPU around May-June methinks based on previous price gouging tactics etc etc ;) they will have to drop prices on both existing Green & Red GPU's to avoid being left with a lot of unsold stock........

Depends on supply/demand really, if stocks are limited & sell out pdq, then AMD will be in a position to carry on business as usual.
