The definition of killers, and in this context, has a different meaning for everyone; and this topic/thread/my post is not about my view of war or its participants. I was merely making a point.

Wrong. Soldiers choose to fight a war, and all future wars, as soon as they enlist. If you disagree with the grounds on which the war is being fought, then you have a moral obligation to refuse to partake and accept the concequences for that decision. I imagine that isn't something too many people would want to do, which is why the smart ones dont enlist in the first place.

By that reasoning calling someone a muslim **** would be acceptable too? After all religion is a choice.

It's only the same as calling someone a 'christian ****'. I don't suppose people would have a problem with that though. However, were I to then change Christian to Jew, well...you know the answer. It's the world we live in.

To be honest your whole line of reasoning is flawed as what he posted on facebook was a little more than "all soldiers are killers" (itself incorrect) and something much more derogatory. It is also possible that it was not that which caused him to be arrested but something else. We do not have the full details so there is a lot of speculation.

Finally I would also say that what he posted on Facebook is in fact wrong, but not something that he should be arrested for.

The article, as far as I can see, only states that line as what he posted. You said yourself we don't have all the facts? but tell me that my line of reasoning is flawed because he posted in excess of that? Do you know exactly what he posted, care to direct me to it so i can make a more informed opinion?

He has a point, there are a lot of innocents dieing because of our troops. He shouldn't of insulted the troops though imo. To play fair, I think every Islamophobic comment should be treated the same way.

So he was spurting as much hate as the EDL do. There's always tools in any portion of society.

Jail anyone that incites violence or hatred, regardless colour, creed or nationality. We all should have the right to free speech but once people might actually get physically hurt from the effects of what you say, you have gone too far.

I agree with his point, perhaps the manner he expressed it in was not the best, but I have no problem with it - how often, on a daily basis, do you hear people saying, towel wearing arabs should go to hell etc? yet nobody raises an eyebrow. One mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter.

You clearly don't have close friends/family in the Forces. Soliders never choose to go to war. No solider wants war, definitely not after they've experienced it. They want the politicians to sort things out and war should be a last resort.

A regular solider as you think of them signs up because it has good job opportunities, teaches you skills, make life-long friends and because they want to protect these shores. They get no choice in where they go to war. If the politicians decide they want oil or to overthrow some random dictator then they have to go. Why?

1. because they want to protect their friends.
2. because they'll go to jail if they don't.

The smart soliders do what they're asked and do it well.

The Forces give up a lot and they deserve respect for what they do. They don't choose the environment they're placed in and they concentrate on helping their friends and getting the job done. Those blokes gave up their lives because politicians put them in that place. The soliders knew the risks but they knew what they had to do. They have families and I'm grateful for what they do.

My brother is in the RAF. He's getting screwed over by the cuts, 7 out of 12 months in Afgan (which is against the rules). He doesn't have a choice because they're understaffed. He's being sent when they told him he wouldn't be so now he's missing his 21st and his holiday with friends.

On topic: the bloke deserves to lose his internet for two years. He's in-sighting hatred.

No, your line of reasoning is flawed because not all soldiers are killers, you seem to have a remarkably simplistic view of what it means to be in the Armed Forces.

Nothing shocking about it in my opinion. I'm not sure exactly what the "Azhar Ahmed" guy said on Facebook, but if he was disrespecting soldiers that lost their lives, then he deserves all he got and more.

if you dont know the whole story, dont rush and jump to conclusions.. no ifs or buts..


What he said was from what I remember thousands of civilians in Iraq/Afghan are dying and no one gives a damn about that which is true.

and EDL, they are probably on JSA, have nothing to do so they got together to make their afternoon a bit "entertaining".

If everyone cared for this country like they claimed to, then this country would be miles better, no rubbish, no violence/muggings etc etc..
