Do you like living in Britain?

No day by day I'm hating this country and just my general existsance in this country it's people and the ignorance of government, the increasing violence, frustration, poverty, attitude, poor wages, over taxing and a government that on the hole doesn't listen is starting to great on me too much for my liking I'm a happy go lucky person by nature but feel I'm being dragged into a annoyed, depressed state from what I see going on around me...
But if I'm honest I would miss this country if I left it permently with all my family living here however I would love a good 5+ year break from its constant grind

Yeah, I like living here.

It's a pretty awesome country when you consider everything that we have.

I reckon most people fed up with this country are actually fed up with their own situation/life and would feel the same in any other country.

People associate living in another country with a complete lifestyle change when in actual fact they could make those changes without having to leave the country.

So where exactly is the utopia with its high wages and plentiful employment, competent government and idyllic scenery and weather?

if i ever become very well off, i would spend a portion of my time in another, warmer, more scenic place.

however, i can't think of a better place to have been raised and educated in the GB. not quite sure what the future holds but my friends and family are here and if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

the 'grass is always greener' phrase is true. one cannot compare a place they may have had an enjoyable holiday in to actually living and becoming a part of the community. though i have seen some places in the US and australia which do look pretty idylic. but if australia was so great, why the heck are they all over here? :p

That's pretty much my take on things - for example I work in a converted mill above the canal in the countryside overlooking wildlife on a beautiful sunny day (today) - you couldn't ask for a more picture postcard location for an office view.

However since I've worked here for 8+ years it's just become the norm and I completely take it for granted. I have to be reminded from other people (generally the postie every day) how great the location is.
I just see it as work which takes the shine off it somewhat.

This is how I view living somewhere else, once the honeymoon period / novelty has worn off it just becomes what you know and that in itself can soon get boring.

Things about Oz that would deter me from ever moving;
Music - The music in Oz is awful in terms of live gigs and festivals and they don't exactly have a thriving music scene, It may seem small in context but trust me when you fancy going to see a live show you'll soon realise that we have it VERY good in Britain.

Shops - Our choice of shops is incredible compared to OZ, if you like expensive boutiques then great, but you'd have to spend top dollar to get a half decent outfit together. It's the one thing that my OZ friends miss the most when they head back.

Sun - I know most people love the sun and so do I, but having to cover yourself everyday with suntan loation would drive me mad. I would actually miss not wearing a nice big coat / trousers.

Food - I would seriously miss the diverse food / restaurants we have to offer in this country

Insects - everything bites you out there

I've just realised I've gone off on a complete tagent - to answer the question quickly, yes I do like living in Britain, you just have to get off your behind sometimes and go and seek out new and interesting parts of it.

Yes, I like it here. There are not many places that have so much to offer but I would like it to be warmer.

I agree with this tbh Sometimes people just need a break like I do lol

Never said there was one tbh it's just how I feel sorry if this offends u....

You did so well with the correct use of an apostrophe but then you finished your comment with "u"... I'm afraid your access to heaven-on-earth has been denied :(

Can't really beat the UK..

Free healthcare
Free dentist
Free eyecare
Trustworthy police
Free legal
Free schooling
No civil wars etc
Good road network

Can't think of another country where you have it so easy..

I think a lot of people forget what we have and become complacent.

Many areas of Britain are already massively overpopulated and the wrong kinds of people are the ones crapping out the most kids so it's only going to get worse.

The wrong kinds of people? The ones who require the rest of us to pay for their right to live and breed.

What's more there's millions of them, both domestic and imported. And whilst the hard working, intelligent, productive members of society struggle to raise just one child, the lazy, shiftless and just plain stupid are allowed to have massive families that create and perpetuate crippling social problems whilst our sickeningly twisted sense of social justice encourages them to do so by withholding discipline for fear of offending political correctness.

Last year's riots are only a mild portent of what to expect in years to come, I predict many a summer of discontent in future years. Because whatever England is now, by 2025 social problems will be simply off the scale.

Whilst many of the core values of the country are intact, you can only cram so many people into one space before the concepts of honour, fair play and kindness are stretched to breaking point.

That's just one of the reasons I'd take America, Canada, Australia or New Zealand any day over what this country has become.

Now I know there are great parts of England still, but from a city dwellers perspective, my take is that the best years of England are gone, never to return.

.

i have friends who have been to NZ. i've viewed their photos and heard their stories, sounds and looks great. however, they then told me about one area and the sand flies problems they had and it put me off. i know it's only one small, regional problem but it would drive me insane.

As a city dweller are you basing your view of the country on what you have read in the media?
