University - Home Sickness and other problems..

The best a parent can hope for is that they set their kid(s) up right to deal with the world. You going to university will be awesome for them, you have no need to feel like you are abandoning them, it really isn't that way.

I don't think the greater distance is as important a factor as you think it is. For one thing you would still be able to come home, and for another, you'd have your own space in Aber to escape to if you wanted to get away for a while. Once you're there, your social experience will probably be about the same whether you travel 10 miles or 100 miles. The only difference is that you have a longer train journey home.

I certainly wouldn't let thoughts of homesickness stop you either. Lots of students have those feelings to varying degrees when first going to university, and almost all get over them, including those who might have less social confidence. One of the best things about uni is that whatever your personality type, you'll almost certainly find people you enjoy spending time with.

And don't feel guilty about your parents. The whole reason they've supported you is because they want to see you get an education and be well-placed to live independently. Of course it's a big change for them too, but I bet they're really hoping that you choose to go.

Nice one :D

Take the chance! If it doesn't work out then oh well, but at least you gave it a shot.

Remember, regrets are things you don't do.

Keep us updated. :)

Number_25 I'm also at Aber. I'll be in my 5th year next so if you want to know anything other than what's put here, e-mail in trust =]
