7970 or GTX 680

What one should I get? I want to run 3x BenQ XL2420T and play bf3 at max? CS:go, Minecraft, WoW and Crysis.

Let's concentrate on BF3 as the other games aren't as demanding. To get smooth gameplay at 5760x1080, i.e around 60fps or more you would need 2 cards. The current 680 with 2gb ram would be a severe limiting factor at that high resolution on the highest setting, so I would suggest 2 x 7970's.

If you're ok playing at around 30fps then 1 7970 will run it at the highest settings.

PS don't believe all the BS reviews out there in internet land, as they used crappy nerfed drivers for the 7970 cards to make the 680 seem better than it is.

Sigh, let's drag up all the biased reviews we can find lol. Meanwhile in reality, the 7970 derps all over the 680.

I guess you recently bought a 7970?

I dont see the OP mentioning Metro2033 in his list of games?

Hah, and i'll link the OP to the Heaven benchmarking thread here on Overclockers http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18386056

How is one benchmark, which is not even a game, the metric everyone should go by in choosing?

You're the biggest AMD fanboi I've seen the forums. Dropping all kinds of sarcastic horse crap before the launch, and now spouting bull**** left, right and centre.

Go ahead and keep playing heaven. Let others make rational decisions on benchmarks that are meaningful to them.

Wow, calm down sunshine, who wee'd in your Cornflakes?
Anyone who suggests the OP gets a 680 is a blinkered fanboii of the highest order, you can say what you want but the 7970 is the better choice.
The latest drivers have shot the performance up in BF3, read others views http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18386761&page=3

Funnily enough at 5760X1080,which is the resolution the OP wants to play at,the HD7950 3GB is matching both the HD7970 3GB and GTX680 2GB in BF3!!:confused:

Their testbed is using a Core i7 3960X too. I wonder if the cards are either running out of VRAM or have insufficient memory bandwidth in this case??

Edit!!

The HD7950 3GB has a higher framerate at 5760X1080 than at 2560X1600?? That cannot be right??

No. But every one of your comments points to nothing else. Frankly, I'm sick of hearing mindless twaddle, which seems to have become the order of the graphics card forums ever since the 680 release. In your case, it's clearly a result of being butt hurt over having bought a 7970.

Let others make their choice without you spouting your complete and utter tripe.
